I felt like every year when Jim was in charge in Pittsburgh he would pull the trigger on a deal in the game 25-40 range. So it wouldnt shock me at all if he makes a move soon.
Yup. He's always believed in paying a little extra to move early. Great fun in the moment, but the chickens come home to roost after enough years of "Sure, I'll pay a 2nd instead of a 3rd for that bottom sixer" and "Top 4 defenseman? Take my best prospect."

Barzal
Mayfield (was thinking Pelech, but Vancouver is deep on LD)
Cizikas
2025 2nd

for

Boeser
Garland
Desharnais

Pretty close cap wise (could retain a small amount on Cizikas to make it cap neutral)
Not sure if doable, but certainly would be a big move for both sides to change their approach on the ice . . . Isles get more scoring depth and Canucks get an upgrade on the RD
Canucks get out from under Desharnais
The Isles take on the risk of Boeser's re-signing and the possible cap hit from it.
The 2nd is to compensate for the issue of contract length the Canucks take on and if they decide to buy out CC (would be a $833,333 rate for the years)

Even with the dumps… that’s awful for NYO imo.

I'm an Isles fan. We're top heavy in Center and need to fix the bottom 6. This allows up to put 3 solid winger combos when healthy and also pushes someone down to the 4th line that can contribute. It also helps Vancouver with grit, which seems to be a complaint I've been reading about.

I can’t say if I was an islanders fan, I’d be okay moving Barzal for junk/spare parts.

Barzal would only be moved for a star of another position imo.

But you would know the team more than me.

Our bottom 6 has been awful in production and Boeser/Garland would help that greatly. Our PP has not had a trigger shooter and Boeser slots right in. This deal would also let us move Palmieri in his UFA year to re-coup the pick or a pick plus a 4th liner improvement.

Also Friedman spitballing.

Friedman is a dumbass, he should stick to reporting and not be spit balling ideas - Byram is okay, he hasn't developed as expected (And has actually regressed pretty heavy from his days as an Av during their cup run), and Cozens hasn't been good since he put up 68 points 2 seasons ago. You don't trade guys like Pettersson for what looks like 2 borderline reclamation projects.

Pettersson is struggling but Cozens is on pace for 34 points which would be the second year in a row his point goals decreased. Even with Byram included, it wouldn't be worth it.
Struggling at a ppg pace. Still controls the play every shift and a monster defensively.

This doesn’t come close to the value.

Cozens for Petterson is way too risky for the Canucks.
This will somehow end up with another Flame on the Canucks lol
