To Vancouver:
Mike Matheson

To Montreal:
Nils Hoglander
Vincent Desharnaris

Was thinking of involving Evans & Heinen to give the Nucks a bit of breathing room but that felt too complicated for my lazy ass
So two cap dumps for Matheson? Yeah, I think Montreal will pass (while laughing hysterically)

As for the value of the trade Rangers dont do this. Boeser is a UFA and his ask is going to be more than what Kreids makes. He has 1 season scoring 40 and the year prior he had 18. You have to go back 7 years to find another year he came close to 30. Consistency hasn't been his strong suit. Oh and he is actually only on pace for 30.5 goals for the year and not the 35/40 you think he is. Kreider has been a much better goal scorer the last few years and unfortunately isn't fully healthy this year. He is also probably the best net front player in the game and a really good PK player. Zero interest in Hoglander and the Rangers do not have room for him even without Kakko. Berard has looked great so far.
Hahahaha I always love these posts, this time Flan with the incredible, laughable, clown take. Congrats on embarrassing yourself!

Maybe the Pettersson/Miller dissonance has been a plant to distract the fans from the godawful job Allvin/Rutherford did building a defense corps behind Hughes and Hronek.
It’s really not that bad. Take away the top pairing from any team in the NHL and it’s going to look very very bad.

I think at this point you just stay the course and maybe look for a Zadorov-like trade where you move some combination of non 1st/2nd round picks for an NHL body on defense. Absolutely do not trade a high pick for a UFA rental though.

Don’t be surprised if Vancouver moves a prospect they might be souring on, to try maximizing the value of the addition they’re looking to make.

The funny part is, and it’s not just Vancouver fans, it’s fans from every team… they will kick and scream for even mentioning certain prospects being traded, but those same fans will end up praising the front office in 2-3 years, for having the foresight to trade a kid before his value plummeted. Like Colorado did with Barron.

The Canadians just hadn’t been watching Barron enough, or they thought they could fix him. Regardless, a trade that sounded good at the time for those who over value draft status, turned out very different than the majority thought when it was made.

The Avs already knew Barron didn’t have the combination of puck skills and decisive decision making, to ever “carry a pairing” in the NHL. So they cashed-out while it was still only whispers spreading about their feelings on Barron. Using that value to help add a core member of a Stanley Cup team.

If the Canucks can add someone today, who goes on to being a core piece to a Cup team, nobody will care what prospect left in the deal. When they find out in a few years that prospect never really amounted to anything anyway, it’ll look even better.

What prospect are you hinting at? Anyone in particular?

Yea they can’t sacrifice a 1st for a rental the way the season has gone so far. A Hronek-like deal for a long term fix would be fine, though it’d have to work with the cap

We don't have any prospects with good market value who we're souring on, though. Willander and Lekkerimaki are the only blue chippers and they should both be untouchable. D-Petey is playing well and so is Kudtryatsev.

The only player that makes sense is Hoglander but I don't see him having a ton of value right now, unless you get an older team desperate for scoring that is counting on a comeback.

That's what they did with Brzuskewicz last year, and that saved them from gifting Willander to Calgary. Brzuskewicz is having a mediocre AHL season and it looks like they correctly sold high.

The Canucks really don’t have any prospects that the organization might be souring on that hold any value aside from maybe Lekkerimaki. He’s got 11 goals on 18 games in the AHL this season, so scoring isn’t an issue for him although his overall game needs improvement. I think most fans would gladly trade him if it brought back a legitimate top 4 d-man that was a longterm fit though.
