This gives major "hire the guy Quinn Hughes likes the most" vibes. Which I partly understand, but they should not be in this position. Because I just doubt that if they weren't unsure about Quinn's future with the Canucks, they would hire a different coach. No doubt.

They by all accounts did interview multiple people. Not big names, but still multiple people. Malholtra, Foote, Love, Sturm at least I think?

Foote is the one with the smallest resume. He also happens to be a guy that got very high praise from Quinn Hughes, who also loved Tocchet and was very disappointed in him leaving the organization.

Make your own conclusions.

We all know what Torts said about safe. By going the path of least resistance and attempting to put the toothpaste back in the tube, the Canucks are more likely to completely blow whatever chance they have remaining of keeping Quinn.

Not sure i like this, another defensive-minded head coach on a team currently devoid of offence. Of all the 'raw' head coaches we were looking he was the bottom of my list, and the most raw. Only head coaching experience is 2018-2020 with the Kelowna Rockets (WHL).

Also, why the rush?!

Tocchet would bring him to be an assistant in Philly.

Or you hire Adam Foote. Who's only head coaching experience is when he coached Kelowna in the WHL for a year and a half before getting shitcanned but was one of Tocchet's boys on his staff.

The Rockets underperformed during his brief tenure as head coach, but his firing probably had a lot to do with the Rockets Owner/GM Bruce Hamilton thinking his team was a lot better than it actually was.

That Rockets team had very little talent on it and that wasn't Foote's fault. Hamilton made a bunch of terrible acquisitions to boost the team for the coming Memorial Cup in Kelowna, and had it not been cancelled due to covid, they were going to get utterly embarrassed.
