Rumor: Canucks have taken Elias Pettersson EP40 off the trade market

He was never truly available. You don’t trade 100 point Selke level centers. One just lead his team to a championship last year. Along with a 100 point superstar dman in Quinn Hughes and a Vezina Calibre star goalie in Demko, they will be competing for championships especially with how great the d-core is going to be the next decade.
Do you know who our GM is? Also comparing Barkov with EP is laughable, EP hopes to be on that level, he ain't.

I'm not sure I believe his agent. Management has repeatedly said there is no injury and they would know because of trainers and doctors. Unless they're straight up lying. It'll be interesting to see how he plays at this tournament. If he lights it up, it might just prove the theories about not being happy in Vancouver.

People are quick to forget EP went through a tough stretch from bubble season to half of the following season, then bounced back playing 2.5 years at something like 1.2 PPG

Okay he didn’t have a good off-season, but he’s bounced back once from that and can do it again.

Maybe he doesn’t score 100 again like he did when the team was offensive-minded, but he should be a star again. Best thing the Canucks can do is just move on from all this trade talk and let him focus on playing.

I mean yeah...they basically have to ride with Pettersson now. They've dealt away Horvat, now JT Miller as well. They have absolutely zilch in the pipeline as far as Top-6 Centers, much less potential 1C types. They also have no moveable assets that would get a Top-6/Potential Top Line Center back. The only thing out there that would even be remotely feasible, would be someone like Barzal++ for Pettersson, and then go out and get another Top-6C. But especially with Barzal's injury, that doesn't make any sense right now...and probably doesn't make any sense in general.

They've made their bed, and they're ride or die with Dekey Pete.

EP is an 100 point Selke level center in the same way that RNH is.

Not really,

IMO Pettersson's value is still sky high with real GMs.

He could probably fetch a young centre that we can hope to build around one day, in other words we can hope to become Elias Pettersson one day..

Kent Johnson
Mason Mctavish
Dylan Cozens
etc etc

Good idea. Play a while with EP not having the smoke and fire around also having JT Miller on the club.

But they should be looking at Boeser trades if he's not going to resign. Letting him leave for nothing is foolish. Vancouver has NO chance at winning a cup this year. Even making the playoffs is an accomplishment. Why self rent a guy you can sell for real assets in a year where you're not a legit contender.
Saying Vancouver has no chance at a cup of is the safe bet but when you have arguably a top 3 goalie tandem that will include a guy nominated for the vezina who unlike every other top goalie won't be on fumes come playoffs. A Dcorp that is very good, a shit load of cap space as well as picks and prospects.
They have a very good bottom six and depth and while admittedly the top six has struggled they look faster and there's just a different vibe.

Brock has gone out of his way to say he wants to be here and since 8 years isn't likely an option there's really no point in trading him unless they feel it makes the team better.

Like maybe the jets who unlike the nucks don't have clout on July 1st decide Ehlers is gone that's a trade that I could get behind. Brock would likely have no problem playing in Winnipeg, being so close to home, while the nucks probably feel the same about Ehlers.

But for a second and a prospect for your best goal scorer and longest tenured loved in the room loyal soldier, while very likely being a playoff team literally built for playoff hockey is just dumb on every level IMHO.

lol he has 3 straight seasons of 30+ goals playing with Mikhayev, Lafferty, Pearson, Beuvaillier, Kuzmenko.
Hold on I remember being told by Vancouver fans that Kuzmenko was the best Russian to come over since The Breadman and was going to be as impactful as a scorer in the league as Kuch or Tank??? It seems to me that EP has struggled since Kuzmenko has left and is not there to prop him up anymore.

Shhhh. I’m sure the great hordes of media personalities who’ve almost never broken anything about the Canucks and are currently talking about how all the team’s key players want out are telling the real story.
Not saying I'm taking any side or the other but to act like his agent is telling the real story is also pretty laughable. Guy is protecting his asset, and with EP, there has been a common thing used to protect him every single time. Injuries.
