Rumor: Canucks have taken Elias Pettersson EP40 off the trade market

Yep the real deadline will be July 1 when his NMC kicks in which would severely limit the return on him if they do decide to trade him.

MY guess is he is a Canucks for a long time. He gets a full off-season of training and get his leg strength back and we see a 1c 90+ point player again next year while getting some Selke votes.

I mean, it would be great if EP regains his form and justifies his contract but the optics with him are terrible. Even with Miller out of the lineup and not hurting his feelings EP was only average. Is he that fragile?

Canucks have been playing better since the baby mama drama has been removed form the locker room.

It’s taking him quite a bit to regain form, we will see how he does in the stretch run.

Despite what the media is trying to narrate people to believe,

EP40 was not struggling because Miller was in the roster.

They've played together for almost 6 years and EP40 has had a 100+ point season and 3 consecutive 30+ goals.

The problem with EP40 was tendinitis last spring, which led to little to no off-season training.

Unfortunately, this might be the best version of himself we will see this year as he needs a full -off season to train and re-gain leg strength.

Just glad that the Canucks are making a patient decision and not a short sighted one based on what have you done for me lately.

Can almost guarantee we will get at least 4 more 90+ point season from EP40

Who said his issues this season have anything to do with Miller? I think it’s far more likely a conditioning issue than a Miller-issue. Miller was a team wide problem.

What optics? again, he has played with big bad Miller for 6years and has flourished. Nothing has changed this seasone except for the fact that Pettersson was hurt in the spring and couldnt train in the summer and came into the season with no strength. Media then just gaslights the rest.

Shhhh. I’m sure the great hordes of media personalities who’ve almost never broken anything about the Canucks and are currently talking about how all the team’s key players want out are telling the real story.

AKA no one has offered anything close to what Rutherford and Allvin are asking (and really they shouldn't until EP proves his 2022-23 wasn't a fluke).

Part of me wonders if "keeping him on the market" was more of a "light a fire under his ass" move rather than an actual trade discussion.

If I was Allvin and JR, I would 100% be sending him the message (however to be delivered) that "we ain't f***ing around anymore. Time to nut up or we'll ship your sorry ass out".
