Rumor: Canucks going after Rossi?

Don’t even want the 2025 1st anymore. Make it the 2026.
That’s what you want. And that’s understandable as a Wild fan. But it’s not up to us. We can offer opinions, of course. If it’s your opinion that Geurin will only accept a 2026 unprotected first for Rossi then I think you’re wrong. Imo he would be foolishly disrespectful to ask for that. Likely the other club wouldn’t talk to him again.

90-95% of Wild fans would do the 7x7 proposal from Rossi’s camp. That’s the tippy top of what I’m personally comfortable with. I’d haggle my way to 7x6-6.5
Is this whole Rossi scenario up to us as fans or is it in the hands of the clubs? How about we try to separate what we want to happen (as fans) from what we think our management will do? We have no say!

It's not an opinion. It's been reported that if Guerin is going to accept a pick, It will either be like a top 5-7 pick this year or 26 pick.

It’s reported that Guerin doesn’t want to make the team worse and wants win now top 6 players, but that doesn’t stop you or other Canucks fans from mashing #15+trash for Rossi.

What Guerin says and what Guerin does are virtually guaranteed at this point to be two very different things

They don't want picks (or futures) but it's also been reported they could flip those in another deal (basically what Vancouver has done with both the Horvat and Miller trades).
That was from yesterday; Today, the reports all they are wanting a C now for Rossi or Rossi isn't getting dealt. Eventually Cooler heads will prevail, and they will settle this. The flipping part is an opinion and that wild would only do so if they had another deal done, but thing is no other clubs seems to be looking for picks especially this year and prospects

Are you suggesting Geurin is so stupid as a GM he isn’t capable of using assets from a Rossi trade to flip for the type of player he prefers in a second deal?

Takes two to make a deal. Rossi needs to agree to a contract. Any club wanting Rossi needs to agree to the cost. Right now all we can see as fact is that Rossi doesn’t have a new contract and there’s no trade.

It’s been long enough now I don’t recall his specific tone while he was telling us about getting younger and faster and playing time being merit based and about how there won’t be any more country club and blah blah blah
I get that you think Guerin is a blubbering idiot and him trading Fiala was a traumatic event. I just don’t want to hear it every single day.

If I don’t want your trash for Rossi, why would another team want it for a more desirable player?
Is Geurin restricted to using only the return from a Rossi trade in his deal to get the player he prefers, or can he add assets he already has?
Again, it’s not “up to us”; we’re just fans. It’s up to the actual GMs. It’s about what we think they might do. Or are you not interested in what you would do if you were a GM? That’s fine, of course, but that’s not the tact I’m trying to discuss.

If it's about what we think they might do, there doesn't seem to be any indication that he's interesting in flipping futures. All indications point to him wanting one deal where he gets what he wants.

And is there any rumour that deal is available? I don’t see one. Which leads us to believe Geurin either accepts what’s offered now and adds to those assets to get the type of player he prefers (a bigger bodied centre) or he sits on Rossi. IMO he’s not going to sit.

We already talked about this.

Just because you want Rossi to be available for futures doesn't mean he actually is.

for me the thing that has gotten under my skin with Bill Guerin, the environment where rookies are scared to make mistakes, and veterans can make mistakes/ play like crap but never get punished. Also, his signings and trades for 4th liners, I've had enough. Also, I have been with John Hynes and the leash he gives to veterans

You're wrong about the 2nd. It's not just wild fans saying. It's literally been reported by many different beat writers including Canadian beat writers like Julia M who says Wild want players back, not Picks.

What I want doesn’t matter in the real world. As does what you want matter in the real world. All we, as fans, can do is speculate. Imo Van is interested in Rossi. They have a ceiling on the price they will pay though. I’m also speculating that Geurin, who isn’t an idiot, is smart enough to accept a fair offer for Rossi (even though futures) and use that as the foundation for a trade to get the type of player he prefers, a centre much bigger than Rossi. IMO Geurin is not going to waste Rossi as a trade asset or sitting out.

Doesn't matter what you speculate, there's no indication Guerin is looking for this

So now we are compounding a lousy return by needing to add more assets to it? Gee, that sounds incredibly…. What was the word you used? Oh yeah. Stupid.

You keep saying “it’s not up to us” while ignoring the actual reporting lol…
