Rumor: Canucks going after Rossi?

Update: Michael Russo who just covers wild said on KFAN Dan B that wild won't take picks back at all for Rossi, They want a win now player back and Bill Guerin isn't interested in getting worse or picks at this moment. Also, Wild have reached out to Calgary about Nazem Kadri. Rossi is willing to sign a short-term deal with wild if wild offer a short-term deal between 6 to 6.5 mil for two years.

Alot of teams including Seattle and Calgary wants to win now and aren't willing to trade players.
Kadri would be fair value for Rossi?

You’re talking to the guy that went into the rangers board to propose Zibanejad ($1M retained) + Lafreniere for Garland and then told Rangers fans to “use common sense” after receiving negative feedback.

That's not what happened at all, neither nor relevant to Marco Rossi.

You guys have the same delusion as Rangers fans if you're expecting a big package.

Some Rangers fans think Zibby have positive value... the delusion is strong on this message board.

Better not throw stones, I've read through some of the posts on the Vancouver board.

How many teams have been mentioned as having high interest outside of Vancouver?
They said Calgary and Montreal but I doubt it.
A large portion of the Vancouver board is also delusional.

I would say a significant portion of this forum is delusional in many, many aspects.

Canucks fans benchmarking Rossi's 60-point season as good enough reeks of desperation. fans of contending teams like Toronto, Carolina, and Dallas all pushing for Cups show zero interest in tiny players that will likely get rag-dolled in the playoffs. Yet here we are, scrambling for spare parts just to get into the playoffs, while those teams pushing game changers to get to the finals.

Carolina was one of the teams included in Russo's article last week for teams that could be a fit lol, they had a Carolina writer write about it

The reality is most contenders already have two top 6 C's, that's why they're contenders, and that's why they don't need to go out and get another one...

fans, not clickbaiters journalist. These rumors trace back to Thomas Drance whose track record on Canucks news is 0% accurate.

It’s almost as if GM’s never make bad deals that fuel delusion.

I mentioned that earlier in one of my posts. Very possible that a GM is enamored with Rossi and overpays. That's definitely in the range of outcomes.

But there's no way that Minny fans should expect a top prospect (like Lekkerimaki) and a 15th overall pick for Rossi at this juncture. That's a completely crazy ask. Nobody can tell me with a straight face that they rather have Rossi than 15th overall, Lekkerimaki and $7-8M in cap space. And if Allvin pulls the trigger on something like this, that's telling me that he's extremely desperate to keep his job and willing to mortgage the future for a 5'9 center that was stapled to the 4th line in the playoffs.

What are you aiming to do? I think you did perfectly fine just posting what you did
Post Russo's latest update on KFAN in which he talked about wild going after Nazam K, calling the Islanders about Horvat and Barzal, and Seattle about Jared M. How all these teams are trying to win now, so they aren't wanting picks. I don't know how to post it on here

I can.

I would rather keep Rossi at 7 x $7M than trade him for Lekkerimaki and the 2025 15th pick.

I could see something around Garland or Sherwood plus whatever. Cal Clutterbuck was a favourite in Minnesota and that’s Keifer Sherwood to a T, the fact he’s signed for $1.5 next year helps and I’m sure there would be an add but who knows if roster players are wanted.

Sherwood and Lekkerimaki gets it done in my eyes and 15 goes towards something else.

Sherwood is nothing. wild don't need a 4th liner at all. Wild literally have enough fourth liners, and don't need to invest anything more in tough guys. a 4th liner in Sherwoood and prospect doesn't get Rossi. Neither does just garland. it would be a garland and a 1st. a 4th liner and prospect doesn't get Rossi or get it done.

You’d be surprised what a 20/20 while destroying every thing in their path and holding the record in a season for NHL hits to someone like Guerin. He’s far from a 4th liner and the Cap hit allows you to add another player on top of Lekkerimaki with the $4.5 million in Cap space savings (Rossi wanting 7 million)

It's crazy to me that you would think about a 23 year old center that just scored 60 points, and a 20 year old winger, and think the difference is just a fourth liner. That blows my mind. It's not like we're talking about a 32 year old with a year or two contract here lol

I like Garland. Wouldn't mind going after him in a different capacity.

But Rossi for him is just moving small to the wing, not necessarily getting better, and getting 5 years older. Would need something pretty substantial on the pick/prospect end to balance out, if it can be at all.

He would be buried on 4th liner. Again, wild also have trenin and hartman and others for 4th line and foligno for 3rd line. no thanks. a 4th liner and a prospect again doesn't get Rossi. Just because Canucks put him in certain role he shouldn't have been, doesn't mean he will in MN. Rossi is worth more than this.

Not sure that Garland would be a good target. If we keep Rossi, then we need to add a couple big wingers. Benn might be a good free agent to sign. Can take the faceoff and Rossi can play the center role.

This Wild fan would rather have Rossi at a reasonable bridge deal for both parties than that trade package. 60 pt C that’s still growing his game vs a decent winger prospect and a mid first in a poor draft. That pick might as well be a pick in the 20-30s from a normal draft. Rossi lacks size but he’s smart. Has to be to produce in the NHL. I’d bet on him if it were up to me, he’s got some warts but I think he will continue to improve given the opportunity.

That being said, I think the trade is pretty close in value.
