Other than EP being a defensively responsible centre and Mariner being more consistent offensively.

But if Mariner and crew sign for $14m each, doesn’t EPs contract suddenly become good?
EP's contract doesn't become less awful just because Marner signs a worse contract

Lol the Canucks and Petey were doing great when Miller was out.

If Miller can't control his temper/ego at the detriment of the team, then he's clearly the problem. (And again, as far as actually hockey talent, Petey>Miller).
Petey has been underwhelming to say the least and that's 100% on him. If he's not giving his best because another player is harsh with him, that's immature, unprofessional and still 100% on him.

for what pieces.

how about petterson to detroit? danielson 1st unprotected+compher

We don't have a lot of pieces we're willing to part with to add, but what we have are draft picks and good prospects
We could bring a rebuilding team here to make a nice package for Petterson, in a three way trade

Idk why people are acting like this Pettersson thing is so sudden.

He's been underperforming for an entire year at this point.

I can only imagine how insanely frustrated his teammates were when they were one goal away from beating the Oilers in Game 7 and Pettersson puts up six points in the entire playoff run.

Behind closed doors they've already tried to get him going for 6+ months.

Calling him out in public was the final attempt to see if anything could get him going before actually taking trade proposals seriously.

Canucks will target a center in return if they trade EP. And I doubt they will want to "rebuild" so that center needs to be in the NHL today. What team is engaging on a 1/1 trade and offering a younger center with potential to be as equal to EP? I just don't see that happening. I see NHL GM's offering pieces.

Probably shot down but best the Habs can offer is Dach, Newhook, Flames/Panthers 1st (Something like this... 3 for 1). Dach has been meh this year but better lately. He definitely has more to offer. Not enough? Sure, Habs will engage to see what others are offering and if there is no fit, we move on. I suspect Dach is the piece we offer as the NHL Piece and maybe we dangle two 1st rounders on draft day (Habs 1st and Flames/Panthers 1st).

Dach
Habs 1st (after lottery)
Flames/Panthers 1st

Habs are one of the very few teams that can pick up that contract. A lot of signing bonus structure that some owners hate! Full NMC kicks in on July 1st? This might be a PK Subban round 2 situation.

However, I don't see the Canucks making a quick trade so this is going to linger on towards the draft.

Any deal with Columbus has to have Fantilli coming back or Sillinger & Johnson as pieces coming back.
our three untouchable young guys are fantilli, johnson and mateychuk. kj's contract is the most team-friendly in the entire league, mateychuk still has all three ELC years and fantilli still has another ELC year after this.

a serious CBJ offer would be some combination of the following pieces:
  • roster pieces: sillinger, chinakhov, provorov (retained/extended)
  • prospects: del bel belluz, brindley, svozil, dumais, marrelli
  • picks: CBJ 2025 1st, MIN 2025 1st, CBJ 2026 1st
i suppose there could also be a deal built around cayden lindstrom if vancouver likes him and is comfortable with the medicals. or maybe voronkov if the CBJ brass isn't close on an extension.

If anything, the success of the Eichel deal probably means GMs will be more willing to pony up for EP.

Young 1Cs almost never become available, and the last one that did had a broken neck and still led to a cup. There would be a huge bidding war imo.

EVERY HOCKEY MEDIA OUTLET IS SAYING THEY DON'T LIKE EACH OTHER SO MUCH SO THAT IT'S AFFECTING THE ON ICE PERFORMANCE.

but yeah forsure whatever you say...
That is a really bad red flag for the player who can't be professional on the ice because he can't get along with a teammate. I wouldn't want that guy on my roster. It's inevitable that he won't like one of the 25ish guys he's on the team with wherever he goes. I never played on a team where guys didn't butt heads at some point during a season. A good character rises above that, a weak one collapses. Take the Evander Kane in Winnipeg situation. He clearly rubbed guys the wrong way and didn't get along with some of his teammates, but to his credit he was always giving 100% on the ice. He also gave 100% in San Jose on the ice when there were clear rifts there as well.

Vancouver media is known for this shit. Its quite hilarious. Canuck fans are aware of this, and scoffs it off. Meanwhile hfboards.com take this shit as gospel.
So what do you think the chances are that both Miller and EP are on the team to start next season?
