If you wouldn’t move Seider for EP that’s your prerogative but Detroit needs to upgrade the centre ice position. If you want to wait 3-4 years for Kasper that’s cool with every other Atlantic team.

They may need a centre but this would just open another chasm of a hole on D. So they become a team with a decent centre (who’s really only had one superstar calibre season so far) that desperately need a defenseman.

Pretending that missing multiple key players on/off through the season won’t drive a losing streak more than anything else is weird. And thinking that Miller’s absence was due to a tiff with a colleague and not a personal matter (e.g. marital issues) is odd.

If they're trading both I think you'd basically have to blow it up and rebuild at that point, you wouldn't have any elite skaters on your roster anymore aside from Quinn Hughes.

I’m not sure how much further blowing up you’d have to do beyond that, but I’d be looking for Eichel-type deals, where you get a younger roster player+ prospect. I wouldn’t wanna strip it too bare, just retool with Hughes as the clear voice and the headaches gone. Because are they really gonna win a cup with just Hughes and Miller? No way. Same with Hughes+EP, or the current roster, with how they’re getting along, so cut the losses and get a roster that’s gonna work together towards something.

As a Canucks fan I’m not sure in what world there’s any window right now with this ahl defense.

There needs to be a serious overhaul before they are taken seriously again. Unfortunately it feels more like a long term issue that isn’t going to be fixed overnight.

Part of the problem with this team is the non-stop shortcuts from drafting and developing. This has resulted in a lack of NHL ready farm players and prospects. The team has 2-3 legit prospects and no one in the AHL is really exciting.

Just going to be more of the same if they move assets for short term fixes.

At this moment it looks bad for sure, but to me there's a pretty clear path to fix it before the playoffs even start. Of course it hinges on acquiring a legit difference maker for the top 4 like Byram (which reportedly Vancouver is trying hard to do), and Willander being ready to eat some minutes (which he appears to be).

In the off-season sign Vet D Depth in the Cole mold, shuffle him, Soucy, Myers, Willander as needed based on fit next year.

With fewer minutes Soucy and Myers will get back to being net positives. They are both being asked to do way too much due to these injuries and it's clear they're over their head.

I don't know if Anaheim is interested at all, and I have no idea if these pieces are available even if they are interested, but a Petey deal with McTavish + Mintyukov coming back would be ideal.

McTavish seems like a decent bet to develop into a 2C, and a Minty + Willander 2nd pairing for the next decade has the potential to make give the Nucks the best top 4 in the league.

The Ducks get to accelerate their upswing with Petey added to their high end forwards, and with the emergence of Lacombe and Zellweger their LSD is still very solid. Add Dostal and they have a pretty deep team in every position.
