nhl players not being able to adapt how they treat some people is mind blowing lol

it’s really not hard to meet with where they are
It's a very high pressure environnment where your teammates performances and effort also affect your own contract and legacy. Not a place to be if you're unwilling to give 100%.

If Petey wants lower blood pressure and expectations he can apply at Costco.

I was going to say… I wouldn’t trade Seider for any of those packages, nor for Pettersson so I’m not sure how this makes sense.
If you wouldn’t move Seider for EP that’s your prerogative but Detroit needs to upgrade the centre ice position. If you want to wait 3-4 years for Kasper that’s cool with every other Atlantic team.

Miller seems to be the motivator in that locker room. Trade him away and you think crybaby Petey leads the Nucks anywhere?
Lol the Canucks and Petey were doing great when Miller was out.

If Miller can't control his temper/ego at the detriment of the team, then he's clearly the problem. (And again, as far as actually hockey talent, Petey>Miller).

I’m clearly not a Wings fan, so my assessment was only in a vacuum. If Wings fans would be comfortable because of the team’s specific needs that I’m not as privy to as their own fans would be, that’s a different discussion. As a neutral observer, in a vacuum I would rather have Seider, that’s all.

bufffalo seems like a good fit. they have young dmen they can move and need a shakeup themselves.
Not sure why people are saying Buffalo...The owner traveled from Florida to Montreal and went into the dressing room to tell the players what a great bunch they are, that he believes in them, that their solution to success lies within the dressing room, and that no big trades are coming...This was very recent like a week or so ago...He thinks they're contenders.

All of this from a GM saying “anything is possible”.

I’ll say the same thing I said before: seeing fans of other teams get tumescent over such thin reporting and spinning things into soap opera-level drama is… interesting.

The team is slumping. Key players are injured. Canadian media and fans are rabid. Tiny or nonexistent things get blown up.
EVERY HOCKEY MEDIA OUTLET IS SAYING THEY DON'T LIKE EACH OTHER SO MUCH SO THAT IT'S AFFECTING THE ON ICE PERFORMANCE.

but yeah forsure whatever you say...

Should trade him for sure this is a shitty thing to say in public. But at the same time why would you devalue him like this before a trade. Maybe they want to keep him and are just trying to motivate him by publicly humiliating him. Bold plan.

They're the same player

Other than EP being a defensively responsible centre and Mariner being more consistent offensively.

But if Mariner and crew sign for $14m each, doesn’t EPs contract suddenly become good?

Assuming the Sabres can extend Byram first, would Van be interested in something like this?
Power+Cozens
For
EP, a contract (Desharnais?), and something small like a 2nd/3rd or mid range prospect.

I mean Power is a top pairing d man is he not? And still extremely young.

I would do it but would want to add another prospect piece like Quinn or Kulich.

There are 20+ GMs that would love a young, locked up, 100pt 2way C, and I think the majority would easily convince themselves that he will get back to that once away from the spotlight/locker room situation in Vancouver. Talent like that doesn't just disappear, and GMs know that. There would be a huge bidding war imo, those player types are almost never available.

Even the Eichel trade isn't a great comparable because there was huge risk re: him being the first NHL player to every get that spinal fusion surgery. It was 10x the gamble that the EP trade would be.
I like EP40 but why are you calling him a 100pt guy?

He has done it exactly once and only has 1 other season where is more than a PPG in his 7 total seasons.

Teams are going to treat him a bit like Eichel.

It’s public humiliation to say he needs to prepare better? Something anyone with two eyes can see is the case? And people complain about kids these days being soft… can’t believe how much hand-wringing there is over the slightest bit of real talk
