It IS bad for the Canucks.

Not directed at you, but this idea that the Canucks HAVE to move Pettersson is false. They only have to move him before July 1st if they decide to move him and they aren’t likely to do that if they don’t feel it makes them better.
Well, that's what I think I said.

I have no idea what you guys are going to do, but Pettersson will probably return a good package and teams will pay.

Petterson for Fox+?
I actually like this for both teams who need to go in different directions. Wonder if EP is best suited for a quieter market though.

Fox to Van would be Allvin taking Donald Trump's "51st state" comment to heart assembling Hughes, Fox, Miller, Demko, Garlund, Boeser on Team USA of the north.

No matter what, I think Canucks fans are going to be disappointed in the return. Pettersson has more or less sucked for a calendar year now, and he’s about to cost nearly 12 million dollars a year. Vancouver has to move him soon or he gets to pick his destination because of movement protection, which further impairs the return.
There are 20+ GMs that would love a young, locked up, 100pt 2way C, and I think the majority would easily convince themselves that he will get back to that once away from the spotlight/locker room situation in Vancouver. Talent like that doesn't just disappear, and GMs know that. There would be a huge bidding war imo, those player types are almost never available.

Even the Eichel trade isn't a great comparable because there was huge risk re: him being the first NHL player to every get that spinal fusion surgery. It was 10x the gamble that the EP trade would be.

The comments were likely made to see how EP responds to it. They have to make a decision before the NMC kicks in. One of Miller or Pettersson is going to be traded, the chemistry thing is not working.

IMO Nucks should trade Miller over Petey, the latter is younger and when at his peak, the better player.

And frankly by the sounds of it this rift seems to be mostly Miller's fault anyways.

I think they should trade both of em, eventually. Sounds nuts, but they’ve pretty much poisoned the well, so to speak.

If Miller gets traded the media pressure on EP will only increase. I like EP more than Miller, but he does seem sensitive and mercurial, I’m not trusting that dude to help lead me to a cup.

Miller seems like a dick, though, and I don’t like his leadership. He might be fine with EP gone, but his effort/visible frustrations with other players make me distrust him.

Hughes is the only level-headed one of the bunch, you aren’t winning a cup with these guys, reset the best you can. I trade EP now and Miller in the offseason. Quinn will have a worse roster to work with, but a lot fewer headaches. Let him lead without the bickering assholes being around.

Canucks need to make a big trade, there is an issue and it needs to get dealt with to maybe help improve the team in another area.

Trading the older player should be the move here, as much as I like JT the player he clearly has become a distraction for the team. Brad Richardson comments don’t look good and that was a few years ago.

Get ahead of the problem, Canucks core has been together for a handful of years. It’s cup of bust for the organization so do what gives team best chance to reach that goal.

If they're trading both I think you'd basically have to blow it up and rebuild at that point, you wouldn't have any elite skaters on your roster anymore aside from Quinn Hughes.

True but he’s been pretty bad this year .
They're not going to get a rising star at peak performance for a fading one with a massive contract. Robertson could be a good buy low opportunity. His career high of 109 points is even higher than Pettersson's, and he's a year younger too.
