If I'm VAN, I don't even consider trading either EP40 or Miller. There is no reason to think they can't figure it out and reach a similar (or greater) level that in the recent past. As a team, VAN taking a step back this year was expected anyway, what with the decrease in contract efficiency, but they still have a window if they just remain patient and let their top young players come in and make a difference next season or two.
But ok, if they HAD to trade EP40, for whatever reason, and that reason is not "he demanded a trade", I would say the only 2 teams that truly make sense as a destination are DET and CAR (MIN would be a good one if they had a way to make the cap work, but I don't think they do).
For DET: they have the cap room to make it work by sending Compher back (10 team NTC, should be no problem). If DET wants to escape their rebuild, EP40 as a target makes sense, and the return could be some combo of - 1) lotto-protected 2025 1st (so probably top 10, outside chance unprotected next year) 2) Kaspar/Danielson, 3) Wallinder (lol). VAN can then flip either the DET 1st or their own in a package to add a young C from a team that can't add EP40's cap and for whom this swap would be appealing
For CAR: it would have to be Necas + Kotkaniemi to make the cap work (CAR has no cap-dump type contracts), which is solid win-now value, while still benefitting CAR by trading from a position of strength for a position of weakness. Add Morrow, and it is probably close, rather than picks. Kotkaniemi still has 2 more seasons where he can be bought out at an 850k penalty with the cap going up, so he is a solid potential reclamation, rather than a cap dump imho (would be interesting to see how he fares under Tocchet). VAN winds up weak at C (maybe ok if KK improves), but stacked on the wings with excellent scoring depth.
But to reiterate: even if VAN can gets these offers, it's a lost trade waiting to happen. None of these offers have close to the value of EP40 at his peak
