If I was a team loading up for the playoffs, Tuch would be a guy I’d go out of my way to add, Zetterlund is not. Covering the gap with picks/prospects isn’t always the answer, unless you’re willing to go overboard.
Maybe so but Buffalo wasn't a team loading up for the playoffs so I don't see the relevance there. I agree covering the gap with futures isn't always the answer but it often is. If any team has the supply currently to do so, it is the Sharks. The Canucks could then use those assets to target better guys for their team.

I think the goal would be to target a better current player as the center piece rather then a grab bag of futures. The player in any potential Pettersson trade should be the primary asset.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the goal but big ticket players never get what their perceived value is and Pettersson probably isn't breaking the trend on that one with where he is at right now and what the contract looks like. Eichel didn't either. That was received by critics as an underpay but you're only getting so much in a trade for a player with a lot of money and a lot of term and an NMC.

Good thing for the Canucks that’s not an issue and can hopefully take advantage of a desperate team like Buffalo who has a hard time attracting star talent.

Not if there’s more than one team that wants him. Wait it out and what? You don’t get the guy you want, bravo!
There are always more than one team that wants these players in this situation. It didn't change that Eichel with a 3rd round pick got a middle-six winger, a midround 1st round forward prospect, a 1st, and a 2nd. None of these items are particularly scarce but they also aren't what you're looking for. Pettersson isn't playing in a manner that should make anyone pay more at this point especially knowing that the Canucks have a deadline to move him or they make it more difficult on themselves.

Not trying to dog pile on the canucks. But they have only 3 wins in their last ten. The owner is very antsy and will not be happy at the half way mark playing like this. Gotta think the Canucks brain trust will do something to wake up the team sooner than latear

If I'm Van and I have to move him, I'm aiming at someone like Fantilli or Carlsson. Established in the NHL and producing at a middling rate, but a ceiling at least comparable to EP's.

In return CLB/ANA get a franchise player on a long term deal and an actual guaranteed 1C to push take he next step.

Definitely means Van is retooling though, which burns a year of trying to contend while Hughes is cheap and may affect his willingness to re-sign.

If there's a trade to be made between the Sharks and Nuck's, it's not for Pettersson. It would be for M. Grandlund going north to help fill the void at C,if Vancouver were to trade Pettersson.

Problem is that Vancouver is not rebuilding so you won’t get a 100 point player for magic beans 🫘 and draft picks, it’s gonna cost yuh!! 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s just going to cost a reasonable 2C, 3D, and picks + prospects.

Feel a few teams would offer that.

Fantilli + Provorov
Cozens + Bryan
Barzal + Pelech
Chytl + Schneider
Pinto + Sanderson

As starting points.

Honestly spitballing because my value radar may be way off.

I don't see reason for either CLB or ANA to make that move especially at this point for organizations. They are several years away from contending so trading for EP who would be late 20's/early 30's at time seems unreasonable

And if EP was guaranteed franchise player/#1C going forward the Nucks wouldn't be considering trading him

Seriously, could you imagine an organization trading away a franchise player (or even two of them in the same year), that would be soooooooooooo stupid HAHAHAHAHA JUST KILL ME.
