Canucks-Ducks: Something revolving around Jake Virtanen and Cam Fowler?

Obviously, this deal wouldn't be 1-for-1, but what do you guys think about a deal like this with these two guys being the center-pieces?

Anaheim sheds salary and gets back a decent prospects (amongst other things), while the Canucks get a young PMD. From a Canucks standpoint, I'm thinking that a Virtanen+ deal for Fowler would be similar to the McCann-Gudbranson deal.

In order to replace the loss of Fowler from the left side, taking on Alex Edler would seem like a logical step. Edler's presence would also help Anaheim in their quest to win a cup right now. To help Anaheim's cap situation in signing Lindholm, the Canucks would have to take on a bad contract from Anaheim (i.e. Clayton Stoner, etc.),

To Vancouver: Fowler, ??? (Stoner?)
To Anaheim: Virtanen, Edler, ??? (draft pick, other pieces, etc.).

Virtanen hasn't done nearly enough to be the piece to get Fowler.

Okay so why are you saying a deal revolving around Virtanen for Folwer and yet on the bottom you're showing a trade for Lindholm and Stoner involving Virtanen and Edler and draft picks. First off i seriously doubt that BM would ever consider trading his #1 D man to a divisional rival and Virtanen and Edler in no way get you Lindholm maybe Stoner but not Lindholm.

Ducks get ripped off, Vancouver's left side is also occupied.

Virtanen would have to be the add to a better piece tbh... Virtanen has been fairly underwhelming... he does have potential but right now he wouldn't be the main piece in a deal for fowler.

Fowler is playing some of his best hockey ever to start the season, not sure there is much incentive to move him at this point.

Edler doesn't really make sense, we need forward help not defense.

Watching Virtanen yesterday there is no chance I do this. He needs a year in the Utica or three.

Perhaps not the best time to propose Virtanen for a trade with us anyway, given we saw him last night...

Well, "saw" is over-exaggerating. Allegedly he was playing, but I can't remember ever seeing him.

Anyway. Virtanen is in dire need of seasoning, and is in no way a starting point for Fowler.

I hope the best for Virtanen, but please - he should be in the AHL already.

This won't work on so many levels.
I'm not nearly ready to give up on Jake. He is TWENTY years old. Power forwards take a little more time to develop. Lucic's first real good year was at 22. Bert was 24.
On that note though, Virtanen hasn't proven nearly enough to fetch Fowler even with adding the clueless Edler

If you're suggesting a trade revolving around Fowler+Stoner for Virtanen+Edler then you need to change your bottom there because it's very confusing when you're showing Lindholm being involved. I would assume you meant to say Fowler and not Lindholm.

I would be interested in Virtanen... but not at the expense of fowler/lindholm.

Hes not exactly worth Theodore Montour or Larsson either right now

Fowler has been the Ducks best player this season.

Despite the Ducks cap situation, Fowler is probably no longer available.

Can we have Ben Hutton? I remember he was being compared favorably to Hampus this offseason...

Why wouldn't they try to keep Fowler and Lindholm? Their blue line is better with both of them than just one of them.

How realistic it is remains to be seen, but Fowler's contract isn't exactly an anchor or anything. He brings tremendous value at $4m. Moving him might make the most sense, in terms of getting a good return, but it makes some of the least sense in terms of monetary value.

Agreed. I'd rather trade Vatanen.

I understand it looks bad to trade an asset the same year you sign him to a multi year deal but how much worse can this organization really look given our financial predicament?

I'm pretty much inclined as well, Thinking that Murray might keep Fowler even with Lindholm resigned maybe ownership give in and decides they need Fowler as well especially seeing that Anaheim is in a now win mode.
