I'm really coming around on Debrusk. I wasn't sold on him at first but he's starting to mesh really well with Petey and Sherwood.

Sherwood is something else.

Considering who wasn't in the lineup, this was a good win. Ottawas 2 late ones skews the final outcome. We outplayed them all night.

So what's the over/under on the Hughes suspension? 6 games? I wish I was joking but I literally will be shocked if he's not suspended. I f***ing hate this league.

The bad - tied for 16 with 4 other teams for wins.

The good - only 3 teams have less losses. However tied with 6 teams with 6 losses.

Nearly a quarter of the way through the season, And only 2 teams seem bound to make the playoffs for sure (Minn & Winn). No one is really out of it yet. Virtually every team is a 3 game winning or loosing streak from being in/out of the playoffs.

Well I guess thats what parity looks like.

Anyhow, we got the win that we deserved based on the play, let's hope we run the table on this road trip and establish our selves. (ok, at Minn to end the road trip could be very tough).

While I don't hate the call, that was about as minor a major penalty as I have ever seen. It was about as gentle a push/cross check as I have ever seen, and the player was back for the power play. compare that to the pretty vicious hit to the head that Boeser took that has him out for pretty much a month, and that was a 3 game suspension. No way he get even 3 games, I figure he has no history, little damage and it was such a minor push, he does not get suspended.

Yeah lol, that would be Benning level of asset management.

Imagine thinking a 23 year old forward who scored 23 goals last season is going to make it through waivers lmao
With that contract and his current play, we should hope he gets claimed.

It's funny to reminisce about Travis Green but even funnier is to watch his post game comments tonight and realize he's completely out of answer 20 games into the season:

How this guy got another job as head coach is beyond me.
OMFG. Sooo glad he’s not here anymore. I would assume that how he interacts with the players is a bit different than with the press but you’ve got to think that at least some of it seeps through. You’ve got to stop gifting them chances, got to play better hockey and it’s not to do with the structure. Like, WTF do you do with that if you’re on the team? Just so bad and really drives home the point that he made his way back to a HC position too early before he really had an opportunity to reflect and add new dimensions.

Still left shaking my head at the reffing in this one. Kind of glad in hindsight that we just got out of this one without further injury. You could tell Lankinen was pumped at the end to get one over on these guys after they basically threw a giant tantrum for the entire third period.

That ~2min keep away during the delayed penalty and the ensuing madness that was rest of the game...

... probably the most fun I've had watching a Canucks game all season.

Ottawa played awful.
Hughes penalty was a much lighter cross check than most by it did result in a face plant on the bumper, then the rules kick in.
If Ottawa had started the game the way they did the third period I think the game would have been different. They seemed to have no emotion for much of the game.
There were some really nice moves by Pettersson, still not up to snuff yet IMO, but a nice open ice check but close to head contact when he drove up through the check but both skates didn't leave the ice.

I think most people/posters/fans were satisfied with the outcome and enthusiastic about the group.
Is this group good enough as is?

No Miller, Boeser, Demko, Hughes yesterday, are they needed?

Waaaaay over there
Some thoughts on the Petey line...

It's great to see Petey coming around and looking like the all-star he can be. I think, at this point, we can see he picks up dings and when he does his performance dips and he gets on himself and his performance dips more. But he eventually fights his way out of it. I just hope he can stay healthy, physically and mentally.

I think we have to get used to when we have with Debrusk... love him when his on a scoring streak, put up with him when he's dries up. From all reports, that's been the pattern for his whole career so far.

Sherwood has been just great. Best FA signing in a while, if he keeps it up. My only concern is that he goes so hard that he might wear himself down. He's not huge, and he could end up breaking himself like Motte did. But, I don't think he can temper his play and still be effective. So, hopefully he's lucky.
