Post-Game Talk: Canucks 6 - Jets 2

Next goal was scored by Iafallo with Tanev in front of the net too. Then the new 4th line gave up the 4-2 goal.
You mean the new 4th line Nino Barron Apples ... ouch.
Now if Arniel demotes Apples to PB ... does it upset the room?
Kupari is better than Apples at this point .. faster skater, plays the body and their scoring skills are even.
Lets see how Nino Lowry Apples do against the Oilers if they are caved ... Arniel has to make the change.

Unlovely stuff.

One of the first real Dostoevsky style games I've seen in a long time.

Very busy work day (today) so I did not catch the second and third periods. My kids told me all about it and I've gleaned the same from what's posted here.

Perhaps, as someone said, we are missing Pionk a little?
I don't think Pionk would've saved them. That's the worst game I've seen Hellebuyck play since last April. Two weak goals on him - and he almost caused another with his mishandling of the puck.

Apparently the Jets were not the only ones with an off night.
Perfetti make a great play parting the Canucks defence and almost scored but Lankenin stopped it and according to the official stats ... that play did not happen. Perfetti ZERO shots on goal.
Apparently these refs did not get the interference memo. There were numerous ones but the one that ticked me off the most because it happened right in front of me .... Lowry was pinned against the boards behind the Canucks net for a good 3 seconds stopping him from getting the puck in the OZ. I'm sorry but that's a penalty 99.9% of the time.

I think its smart for the Jets to give Heinola a run of games here. He's the only 'offensive' guy that we have available should 4 or 44 miss games in the post season.
I think that has to be tempered by the fact that the Jets absolutely do not want to use Josh Morrissey as a PKer at this time of year. There must have been utter fear in the organization when he went down the tunnel after blocking a shot. So that role is not one that Ville likely to gets into. Which inevitably brings Stanley back into the picture if it is not Fleury out there. Heinola on his offside in Milller's place seems possible. Not sure Miller is an effective puck handler for the PP. He's probably better suited as the 2nd d-man in a more conservative approach.

Be interesting to see how it unfolds. I can't see Heinola getting in against Edmonton, he's been protected against harder forechecking teams much of the year. Most of the good ones too.

agreed. with fleury's game last night id like to see them give him an opportunity. and perhaps go with more of a hot-hand approach.

whatever happened to sitting guys for to long so they don't get cold? he's played 1 game the last 2 months. heinola's last few games before he was PB'd were solid IMO. the NSH game was probably his most notable game in a positive manner this year. and it's not like the third pair ahead of him have been some world-beaters either.

& fully echo your 2nd point. although samberg has unlocked a bit offense, i think they may benefit from another offensive catalyst as you said.
I think Iafallo has been playing better as of late, I wouldn't take him out.
totally forgot about iafallo, my bad. id still include him for sure.

We'll see them in 11 days actually. Canucks at Jets 2pm March 30th & assuming we first 1st in the west, there's a 34.7 chance they'll be out first round opponent.
Canucks play the Blues in St.Louis next they don't win that game they are probably toast.
Only 3 easy games Kraken Ducks Sharks ... the rest are against all the top teams in the playoffs (Stars, Avs, VGKx2, Jets) and teams fighting for the WC.
Also didn't the Canucks subtracted at the TDL?

The Jets 3rd line scoring is NON-EXISTANT. This is going to be a serious concern going into the playoffs.
It's only a concern if they're net negative which hasn't been the case. Going in to last night they've outscored the opposition 20-10 and have done so against the NHL's best.

With that said, they've best trending downward. Ates just wrote today that over the last 10 games N-L-A had been "outshot 55-38 and tied 3-3 in goals scored at five-on-five." & noted that while this is respectable, more is expected of the NHL premiere shutdown line.

Let's remember how well regarded this line has been. Arniel trust them with heavy minutes & the words "leagues best 3rd line" isn't local media drivel, but rather the opinion of every major pundit that covers the NHL.

Over Lowry's last 10 playoff games he leads the team in goals, tied with Connor at 6. For reference Scheifele has 3 & Ehlers 0.

The 3rd line will be the last of this teams worries come playoff time.

They seem to be using JoMonon the PK quite a bit lately regardless of who's in the lineup. Not sure it really will make a difference as there will be 4 pk dmen Heinola in vs out.

Yep. The Blues are presently the betting favourite for that final spot. 7-2-1 over their last ten, on a 3 game winning streak & over the season are the only team of those fighting for that final wildcard spot with a positive goals differencial. (Blues (+3), Canucks (-14), Utah (-14), Flames (-24).

When was that Perfetti shot? Late in the 3rd he shot one wide from the low slot.

The last 2 games for Hellebuyck he is taking a beating on his stats ... 6 goals on 27 shots.
If Vasilevshkiy gets a couple of shutouts and Tampa clinches 1st expect Vasilevskiy to be the front runner for the Vezina if Hellebuyck has a couple of more bad games and Jets drop to 2nd place.. Vasilevshkiy is catching up to Helle in some of the stats and actually has more minutes played. We all know how the media treats teams from the East.

Yes, but I just meant when they’re in Vancouver for regular season. Had the luxury of being at our 0-6 drumming last year too 😅

Since the Schenn trade, and Fleury reinsertment into the lineup, I think he only comes in to the PK with a PKing d-man in the box. I listened to Arniel on CJOB talk about using him in place of Stanley before the trade, and that was when he said wanted to avoid getting him out against heavy shooters. Losing Pionk subsequently has already has increased his 5 on 5 minutes, especially playing from behind.

With Miller back in the lineup, he's got even less PK duty than Josh this season. So it seems like we are back where we were all year Fleury vs Stanley or Miller vs Heinola. With Schenn now a top 4 d-man.

At this point I'd just let Ville PK honestly, if he sucks at it well at least you know.

But Arniel gets to practice with these guys every day so maybe he already knows.

It is worth noting that the Jets have given up a PP goal in 4 of the last 5 games, since the Schenn trade.
