Post-Game Talk: Canucks 6 - Jets 2

It was one of those games … Canucks have not scored more than 3 goals in 16 of their last 17 games until tonight against the best defensive team in the league. Go figure.
Boeser has not scored in last 12 games … gets 2 tonight.
I thought Jets had a lot of scoring chances but just could not get their sticks on the loose puck in front of the crease..
The save on Connor was how the night went … Lankinen was slow to get across the crease that when Connor shot he had the whole near side open but you are suppose to shoot to the opposite side where the goalie comes from that’s why Connor hit him with his shot Lankinen was too slow lol.
Vancouver scoring chances came from Jets miscues. They had good sticks but the Jets out skated them no problem.
Canucks play the Blues next game watch them get shutout.
Watching MoJo in person is unbelievable, can he skate and the moves … wow he is getting better every year.
Lowry’s with Tanev and Iafallo looked great …. Hopefully we see more of that line.
We know who had the off nights so no need to mention them.

Thoughts...

Glad no one got seriously injured in what turned out to be a bumpy night.

Second, hope the boys had a good time in their trip to Vancouver. Easy to do.

Third, the coaches knew the Canucks would be hungry going on the road for 6 after this. They all said it. Still the Canucks seemed hungrier for the W.

Fourth, the loss of Neal Pionk weakens the Jets defense, showed up in this game.

Fifth, thank you coach for promoting your hard working 4th line wingers . Got you a goal. I don't know how many times I single out Appleton as making the wrong play in a game. With the game close he had a good opportunity to block a shot and the skate through is not playoff hockey.
Wonder if these changes stick.

#6 off night for Helly, should mean a good bounce back.

#7 PP was too cute. Did they get a shot on first 2 PPs

#8 PK is starting to slump...thoughts?

#9 Love the way Ehlers and his line played tonight. Ehlers cutting into the middle against a softer defense is something I hope to see more of. Perfetti sure put the moves on Forbort out there.

#10 Glad that Lowry was on the ice when Morrissey stepped up for the big hit, saved the game from a donnybrook.

#11 I don't mind the idea of 6 Canadian teams making the playoffs. Especially this year.

#12 Whoever is tracking shots on TSN is drinking on the job I think

#13 On to the next one.
Could be a possible round one matchup and as a nucks fan born in the peg and a diehard fan of the original Jets and still a fan of this iteration, not sure how I'd feel cheering against the whiteout (best playoff tradition)

If we get bubble Demko and Chytil back along with EP being back it has the makings of a great series that would be much more enjoyable if I could get my hands on a Gondola pizza.
Not sure anymore but in the 90's early 2000's, anytime any of us winterpeggers went home for Christmas break, it was mandatory to bring many of them back to Vancouver.
Just in my circle of friends in HS there was like 8 of us all born in Winnipeg five from the maples via St Boniface but strangers till we came to beautiful Surrey lol.
Side note we all had cousins preggers by grade 12 which I figure was because our here we used to get drunk in a field while our cousins were getting drunk indoors which made getting some a little easier?

Anyways good luck the rest of the way and I wish I had never moved away from Winnipeg. Cheers!

The Jets 3rd line scoring is NON-EXISTANT. This is going to be a serious concern going into the playoffs.
They need to be better i agree that's why i would switch Appleton with Tanev next game. I'm more concerned with our PP and PK right now, both of those units need to get it going. We are still tied for 1st in the NHL although Washington has played 1 less game, so we are allowed a rare stinker as long as it's rare.

I watched the game till 5-2, then stopped to catch up on some other life busywork. Normally I always feel like the Jets can pull off a comeback but wasn't feeling it tonight.

Van is gunning for their playoff lives, Jets weren't nearly so motivated. Well earned loss.

One positive take-away from the partial game I watched though is the 2nd line looks playoff ready. They're really gelling and I'm not worried about Perfetti in the post season, as I was a year ago. I am really excited to see what that line can do come playoffs, when there was every reason to be pessimistic not too long ago (Perfetti being too young/small/soft, Vlad not being a true 2C, Ehlers not being a playoff performer). Thinking that might be different this year.
The worst teams to at this time of year are the ones at the playoff mark and especially those just below it.

the Jets had several quality chances that could've been goals (ehlers post, scheifele's chance in the 2nd, perfetti in alone in the 1st come to mind). 1 or 2 of those go in in the 1st period or 2nd and perhaps it's a different game. Lankinen was v good.. Ehlers looked great and real aggressive. Helle was not good tonight at all , off night it happens & is few and far between for him. Fleury wasn't good and the 3rd line has been a shell of their early season selves a bit hoping they pick it back up. Samberg picks up another pt though 📈

They didn't play well and the two goals at the end of the first were the difference. Agree with the majority that the 3rd line needs to pick it up (although last nights game is not all on them).
