I don't blame Ference. If you jump into the guy's head and don't phase him I'm sure punching him isn't going to do anything

Would have been nice to see Ference get his face caved in though - cheap shot artist for years.

Good thing we had Sestito in the lineup to prevent this from happening.

going to the game tonight. how's the new concession food? any recommendations?

Lobster rolls are very good but $13.50. Comes with crunchy chips. May not fill you.

I tried a steamer dog ( got the southwest ) was delicious. There are about 8 kinds. My wife got one and it was also delicious. They are reasonable at $8.50.

First game of the year tried the carve roast beef sandwhich, was good.

There is also a speciality grilled cheese place in the upper bowl. Haven't tried yet.

Steamer dogs are in the lower bowl.

Nashville is a good team this year, they finally have a bit of the offensive flair they've needed for years to be a truly good team. Like us, though, they still have a ways to go before they're in any kind of discussion.

Hoping Horvat plays and is able to shut down whatever line he's faced with. I won't be discouraged if he doesn't put up points in any of his nine games. Let him establish his great defensive game in the NHL before expecting him to put up numbers.

They had the smarts to buy low on Mike Rebiro.

I think Sestito deserves another game 2bh.

1 Assist in 6 minutes, he did not hurt us out there either.

The question is, why did he only play 6 minutes? Was he hurt?

If not, then it's pretty obvious that Willie doesn't trust him out there. Who would you take out of the lineup instead? Or should our top prospect just be sitting around in the pressbox?

He was benched in the third not because of bad play but because he wasn't trusted to protect a lead late.

I hate Sestito as a player but he probably deserves another chance even if he's not going to play in the last 10-15 minutes of a game.

IMO he's not an NHL player, though, so whenever Horvat comes in is fine with me.

I would think it would be to ease him back into the game, because he hasn't played one in so long. He did alright from what I saw.

He played fine, but we all know that he isn't on the fourth line long term

Willie is all about running four lines though, that's been the narrative thus far. I don't see how keeping a 6 minute a night player who you don't trust defensively helps but whatever.

If Horvat did arrive in Vancouver last night then I don't see why he's not in. It also gives us two games to see what the lineup will look like and who is out when Burrows comes back. Now we likely just have one game.

Not really much to base any trust on. It was Sestito's first game of the year playing in yet another new system. Add to that he is the 12th man as it is and it's a pretty good plan to sit him in a close, road game.

Or maybe we just felt badly they lost a forward so we sat one too.

He's been with the team all year and played in the preseason, I think he should have a decent idea of what Willie's system is.

then there was that smug ass look on his smirking face when he was interviewed after the game, that he didnt know who he was hitting and it was a clean hit...oh please...spare me......

That's probably the best reason for playing him tonight. Once Sestito is back out of the line-up, might be a while before he gets back in. Especially with one of Dorsett/Hansen/Matthias also scratched.

Horvat travelling yesterday and not practising with the team is a convenient excuse to give Sestito a 2nd game as a reward for a good showing and to throw him a bone for sitting so many games.

With that said, I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if Horvat plays. I'd risk the 3rd line chemistry and put him between Matthias-Kassian.

SSV
Higgins-Bonino-Dorsett
Matthias-Horvat-Kassian
Richardson-Vey-Hansen

Tough decision on who sits once Burrows is back. I'm leaning towards Dorsett (why I've got him in Burrows spot) mostly because I feel the 4th line would be just as effective with Richardson instead, but imo someone that deserves to be playing will be in the press box. Be interesting to see how our rookie coach who almost seems willing to bend over backwards to be a "nice guy" handles it. Good news is it seems the big egos have been shipped out.

A very tough decision indeed! Depending on how Horvat plays, assuming he is in, then I think I would be more inclined to sit Matthias before Dorsett when Burrows gets back. A good problem for the coach to have.
