PK & top line (Staal) were great last night. Without them, a much closer game, if not a loss. Isles seemed to give up once lead got to 3-0 and probably would not have in a closer game.

Canes still giving up too many odd man rushes and good scoring chances. 4th line and 3rd D pair were caved in a few times too.

But, since Ottawa, we've seen much better play from the Canes and that's encouraging.

It's remarkable how good Staal, Martinook and Carrier/Jarvis have been this year.

Out of 83 lines with 100 more minutes together 5v5:

Staal-Martinook-Jarvis:
2nd best in the NHL for xGF%,
4th best in the NHL for CF%
Tied 18th for GF%
7th GA/60

Staal-Martinook-Carrier:
7th best in the NHL for xGF%
2nd best for CF%
tied 18th for GF%
10th GA/60

The kicker is they are doing this against the other team's best competition night in and night out and many of the other lines are much more sheltered.

Great game from Pyotr last night. Hopefully he goes on a hot streak.
How remarkable is it when they do it every year? (Staal and Martinook at least)

Edit: I just realized I’m being the semantics police a lot recently. I may need a Snickers.
