NHL.com debated this, so maybe we should, too. If we had to choose an MVP for the playoffs based on the 11 games played to this point, who would it be? The best part, to me, is that I don't think a case can be made for our best player, Sebastian Aho. I also don't think you can make a case for Mrazek or McElhinney, because they've split the time. I think a legit case can be made for Jaccob Slavin, Warren Foegele, Jordan Staal or Teuvo Teravainen. Other guys could receive votes, like Aho, Mrazek, McElhinney and Williams, but I think it's down to those four as of right now.

My personal opinion is that it's probably Slavin, but I could be talked into Staal. He's been such a horse. He's winning draws, taking the tough matchups, and he's a one-man cycle. Just a prototypical playoff performer.

Jordan barely. A three game stretch of GWG, GTG, and GWG in OT among his other contributions puts him slightly ahead to me. Slavin close behind for obvious reasons. Followed by Turbo. Aho hasn't been as good as he can be, but has made some incredibly timely plays when he has scored points. He can enter the full conversation quickly going forward.

The Canes aren't in the second series without McGinn. He literally was the last line of defense late in the Caps game then won it in OT.
The other argument is that given that the Canes have won both series at 5-of-5, this is the one time that +/- is the most important stat. So all of Teravainen/Slavin/Staal/Pesce through the first two series.

I'd say Slavin but he had a piss poor start into both series and scored an own goal, too.
On that basis it should be one of Foegele, Staal and Teravainen. They were all great each and every game.

Going to seem like a cop out, but this is a team where IMO, you can't define an MVP.

Slavin's been fabulous throughout the series.
Foegele has had a coming out party.
McElhinney stepped in when Mrazek went down and played lights out.
Williams leads by example and has scored (or assisted) on timely goals.
Staal has been a beast and scored key goals.
McGinn scores a game winner to move on.
TT has been great on both ends of the ice and scored timely goals.
Aho, despite people complaining about him not being up to par, made some key, game turning plays (short handed goal, PP goal to shut down the momentum after Barzal's goal, 2 good plays forechecking in game 3/4 to lead to go ahead goals).
Mrazek made some unbelievable stops against the Caps at key moments.
Faulk and Pesce have been solid, Faulk has played some of his best hockey in some of these games.
Brindy has gotten these guys where they are.
The FANS have created an environment where the team has a true home ice advantage.

The list goes on. I can't define one guy that deserves it more than others. It's a true team effort.
