This begs the question...

Is non virgin Scotch Scotch that has already been drunk by someone else? :confused:
Ah it's not the Scotch that is virgin, but the wood of the barrel it was aged in.

Most Scotch gets aged in ex-Bourbon barrels. Barrels get used once for bourbon and then get shipped to Scotland to be used again.

Virgin wood = wood that has not been used to age any other alcohol. Required for Bourbon, but uncommon for Scotch.
