United Center has been kind to this team in the past, 10, 15 years. Should probably request playing teams like Minnesota and Colorado there instead of their barns.

Nice

Thought KK had a great game tonight. Was really skating well and getting involved.

Maybe saying please don’t trade me? Ha.

I'm a pretty strong KK defender myself. I will say that KK for Miller is a more difficult decision than just the on-the-surface numbers. At his best, KK's more valuable both-ways than the raw counting stats say, and he's a 25-and-under player who's still developing, in many ways. It still might be worth gambling a bit with age and contract to get JT Miller's offense, but that's up to our analytical nerds.

I haven't seen anything that I would pin on Rod. Obviously, the struggles on the road and the poor starts to the game are concerning in their frequency, but it's not like Rod can lace up and play for them. Ultimately, it's on the players to perform
Zero question he is the "problem" if you want to call it that. With some more talent/finishers this is the best teams in the league, not the (checks standings) the 7 th best team in the entire league.

You don't question your coach when you understand that you haven't given him the best teal possible (due to contract games) and all he did at the halfway point of the season is get you 7th!

WTF is wrong with people now a days?

I think if we had more forward depth, we'd have the luxury to be more patient with him. I agree that he can be a good and useful middle six guy in this league, but he has a lot of things to work on, many of them just in his head. I just don't think he can work on them here as the roster is currently built. We simply need more than one center who can score. We can have KK or Drury holding down a line, but not both.

Miller can be an ass for sure, but from the reams said about the dynamic inside that room, it's because he genuinely despises losing and lousy efforts from guys. That can cross the line into toxic, for sure, but it's also passion, and if channeled right, helps you win. I think if anyone can, the guys in our room can channel that in useful and productive directions.

We have a proverbial boatload of cap space this offseason with Orlov/Burns/Andersen/Roslovic expiring and Nikishin coming in. We don't have to make the upgrade so urgently. We theoretically can trade for or sign a JT Miller-sized cap hit outright without sending back contracts by the time the postseason is done.

It's less the contract I'm worried about than the roster spot. KK doesn't play well on wing. Maybe you put Drury on the wing, but he's always been a center at every level. Aho, Miller, Staal, and Drury or KK. So to make room, you have to move whichever one Vancouver prefers, and give the other one the job.

And even with the cap going up, $4.8 is a lot to pay for a 4C.

And miller soon
Miller will take some shaping into Rod's image. He's intense, but often in a negative way, not a positive way. One of the things that makes Rod unique is that his intensity is channeled towards encouragement and support, not anger and diminishment. Accountability, yes, belittlement, no. (With refs excluded from this analysis, of course.) Miller is a guy who reportedly can and frequently does go the other way, especially when things are going poorly. But I have great faith in Rod to bring out the best in people.
