Going to see how this plays out on the road. At home, the Canes could match NJ's lines and spread the TOI around with the 4th line even getting 12-13 min. With NJ being able to dictate matchups, will Rod need to shorten the bench some and will that have an effect on the Canes ability to forecheck for 3 periods? Especially with a short turnaround for this game?

We should see the 4th line get a bunch of on the fly starts today. Any of the top 3 lines takes the defensive draw, gets the puck deep, and then let the 4th line jump on and forecheck someone for 30-45 seconds and then change out.

I expect we’ll see a good push early in each period from NJ. Just need to survive those and frustrate them. Also stay out of the box.

A win here will go a long way to being up 3-0 in the series

Fun fact I learned yesterday looking at our defensive pairs.
2nd and 3rd pairs are basically tied at 15 with on the fly starts per 60. Burns and Slavin have as many as the other 2 pairs combined. In turn Slavurns has the lowest O and Neutral zone starts per 60 of any pairing. That have the 2nd highest D zone pairing but Skjesce doubles them up per 60.

I don’t know why I find that interesting.
