I'm not sure ice ever seen a worse embellishment call in my life. Tim Peel is a ****ing embarrassment.

That said, that's a ballsy win. This team should watch Gerbe play, and just feed off of it. It's just amazing what he can do.

Dvorak's pressure and smarts created that GWG. I'm not sure why anyone would want to remove him. He's been a perfect veteran presence, solid PK'er and chipping in points.

Me neither, I think he is the glue holding that line together. Two kids and a wise old fart can be a real good dynamic.

IMO Dwyer supplants Sutter on the fourth line, Ruutu takes Dwyer's spot.

They were using Gerbe-JStaal-Dwyer and Skinner-Nash-Ruutu lines a couple weeks into camp. Wouldn't be surprised to see something similar only with Lindholm instead of Nash.

I don't think Ruutu makes sense on JStaal's line due to his lack of speed and mediocre defense. JStaal's line is being leaned on very heavily for tough defensive minutes--so far it's started 75% of its shifts in the defensive zone. Skinner's line on the other hand is at 50%.

We move Nash to the 4th line to be a defensive center. Once Ruutu gets back our 4th line will be

Lindholm has indeed gotten better each game.

I'd give Ward the start tomorrow, then unless he gets a shutout give the next one to Khudobin. Can't argue with 2-0.

Khudobin played well tonight, but to set the bar for Ward at a shutout seems a little high, no?

Remember that LA is in Raleigh right now, waiting for the Canes. As well as the team played today, there were definitely some "Oh ****, how did that happen" moments, and I don't see those moments lessening against a better, rested team in the backend of a back-to-back

Just got back from the game, so a few notes:

There were some very scary moments. Harrison deflecting a caps pass right on net comes to mind, but there were others.

We need to dictate intensity better. The first was pretty lackluster. If one player on either team grabs the pucks and turns on the afterburners, the whole character of the game shifts. It was tentative hockey, and that means you can take advantage with one good shift, and it also means the other team can take advantage of you.

We were playing really, really horribly early in the second. That timeout did a world of good- whatever Muller said or didn't say, it worked. The reverse with Murphy and Hainsey(?) right before the timeout was one of the worst examples of defensive teamwork I've ever seen- fortunately, it wasn't at a high pressure moment of the game.

The first goal looked pretty weak.

Gerbe is awesome. He's both quick and fast, and just keeps going. Offside a couple of times, but he creates pressure and turnovers with his speed, and he can actually convert them into goals.

Holtby really likes to put the puck back into play after gloving it. I don't think I've ever seen a goalie do that so much.

The Canes did a good job in making use of the ice. They spread the puck around and did a good job at keeping the caps moving, opening up lanes.

Lindholm! Woot! May it be the first of many.

Now, I will read the thread and see what ya'll thought of it.

Also, many thanks to These Is The Times for bringing me one of the backpacks from the home opener!
