Hang it in the rafters baby!

Let's be real . . . Canes aren't going to win 4 in a row against this Panthers team. Hopefully we will make them start to sweat (and the more the better), but the odds of us pulling off a reverse sweep are really, really long. But like one of those NCAA basketball teams with two directions in it's name that wins it's conference tourney to make the big dance, just having the opportunity to pull off a miracle at this point is nice.

But for now:

F#* the Panthers.
F#*k the ECF losing streak and all those who kept harping on it.
And f#*k all the Canes fans who disparaged this team by calling them gutless and having no heart.
(sorry, had to get that last one off my chest)

Although his season has already exceeded my expectations, I'd love to see the fans get a win at home on Wednesday, and then let's see what happens!

Side note: didn't Edmonton nearly pull it off last year until Florida finished them off in Game 7?

They did. Which is why I wasn’t too worked up over the hole we were in. Edmonton has, on paper, the things we complain that Carolina doesn’t have (multiple star players, plenty of grit and physicality, etc) and basically the same Florida team put the Oilers in the same position Carolina was at. They’re just a very good team that we’ve had the misfortune of facing off against during some of our deeper playoff runs.

I don’t know about y’all but breaking the ECF curse makes this season a huge success no matter what at this point. It was already but getting swept was going to put a cloud over it. Clouds are gone. Sunshine ahead.

By all objective measures, it has been a raging success: Guentzel, Skjei, Pesce, Teravainen, and Noesen were all successfully replaced in UFA when many thought that it couldn't be entirely done in one year. They took a gamble with Necas/Drury for Rantanen/Taylor Hall and successfully pivoted to Stankoven/Taylor Hall/high draft picks when the middle guy decided to diva his way out. All of those moving parts, and they went further than any team in the Dundon/Waddell/Tulsky/Rod era.

The radio broadcast (Forslund/Fox) I listened to post game named Orlov the defender of the game, mostly giving him credit for a strong turnaround. I agree he had a great bounce back game, but tonight was the Slavin show. Outstanding game when we needs it most. +3, 28 minutes! Next was Burns with 24:45. Congrats to Nikishin for his first point, Stank was all by himself but the kid did well to move it quick that way. He’s played well. I’m glad he’s playing a fairly restrained game and doing his best to fit in. We could really use one of the righties back so Morrow can sit, they’re sheltering the hell out of him. 8 minutes?

Stank’s snipe was a beaut.

Forslund should know better but it was a turnaround game for 7
