This feels very strongly like a game where Florida pours it on and Kochetkov finally cracks in the end. Seen this a few times with different goalies.

Happy to have been wrong about this. The Canes’ defense was mostly just white-knuckle holding on for those last 10 minutes. Kochetkov really come up big with some good fundamental saves where he’s been leaky in the past.

Really great win. I think they've played well out of the break but didn't have the best results to show for it. It's big to beat a team that's the measuring stick team for us at this point. It reminds them they can beat anyone and probably helps them chalk up the previous two against them as flukes with ECHL goaltending. If they are back dialed in, they're still in really great shape overall.

Props to Koko for a useful game. Pyotr looked great. Great effort from pretty much everyone really.

I didn’t want to jinx anything, but you could tell he was dialed in. He was flipping the puck into the circle after saves and skating to the corner while the bull shit would go down in the crease. Like he was completely uninvolved in anything but making saves.

Florida was the opponent for my 'best canes game' 2024 - the 1-0 beauty on 22feb where aho scored with 19 seconds left (a bit after a panther goal was taken off the board).

And i can say with no doubt, they are also the opponent for our best game of 2025 so far.

Before this game Koochie was at .900 which was exactly league average this year when I last checked. I think he still has a long run of elite play in him this year, maybe this game was the start of that. He was phenomenal tonight and really by my eye test anyways hasn’t been as disappointing this year as many claim.
