Seriously though, I was hoping they would sign Thorpe. After his Junior team was eliminated, I inquired about him to Laval's most reliable source, Anthony Marcotte.

Thorpe is this year's version of Florian Xhekaj.
After his D+1 year and one year in Junior after being drafted, as well as being eligible to turn pro because they both were turning 20, they join the pro ranks.
Like Xhekaj last year, Thorpe will be elgible to go back to junior for his overage season, but if they signed him, it's guaranteed to stay in the pros.

Good for the young man. He still has a lot of stuff to work on, but his D+1 season has been good enough to be worth developing further. I can see a scenario where he becomes a bottom 6 NHL player down the road, if everything goes right for him. It's not super likely, but he does have a shot at making it.
Wow...you already know he won't be able to compete in the AHL...

I remember not a lot of people being excited about Kapanen but here he is a few years later looking good with the main squad. Florian too in the A.
Given Hugo’s track record of rebuilding our program, I am betting they see something in the kid that is worth the ELC and am not going to limit him at this point
