REMINDER: THERE IS TO BE NO TANK TALK IN GDT.

The GDT is a place to discuss the game, piss on the refs, cheer for our team & make fun of Buffalo. It is NOT to cheer losses. If you wish to do that, there is now a tank thread for that.

Warnings or thread bans may occur if you use this thread to cheer for a Canadiens loss.

Go Habs!!

Some new line combos this morning at practice

I think at this point, there is a downside to anything that is tried. It goes back to a depth issue, which I think some people here severely underestimated back in training camp.
The at least go with the logical things…

Caufield Suzuki Gallagher
Anderson Dach Slafkovsky
Armia Newhook Heineman
Pezzeta Evans Dvorak

And switch the C of the line thats performing best. If Dach does not do the job after the fist then put Newhook on the 2nd and Dach on the third or put Evans on the 2nd and Dach on the 4th.

At least that way the lines are actually making sense…

Maybe if Dach and Newhook showed an ounce of competency at center they would be playing center
Dach showed it before getting injured m. He was our most dominating center for a stretch. That is not lost.

Newhook was an effective second line center at the end of last year with Armia and Roy. Moving him to the wing from the get go was the actual mistake.

Moving the to a position where they are less effective is the mistake. For better or for worse Newhook and Dach represent the best potential talent of our team so treat them accordingly.

Dach right now is an anchor on the first line and Newhook is completely ineffective on the wing.

No he isn’t, and who do you place at wing on the second?

One of them sucks
He has literally played three seasons in the NHL and in all three he has more points than Evans’ career high. Stop spouting nonsense.

And put Gallagher on the wing, you know, our 2nd leading goal scorer.

Dach should be on the 3rd line or maybe even the 4th line playing against lesser opponents to try and regain his confidence. At this point he is simply not good enough to be in the top 6

It sucks when a coach does the right thing but executes it incorrectly.

Splitting Caufield and Suzuki is the right move to do, but you give Caufield to Dach and put Dach back at C.

Let's see if he tries that sometime soon, but we gotta start getting Dvorak scratched and Matheson moved down the PP hierarchy. It's time for accountability.
Those would not be my choices but I like the idea of Caufield Dach Gallagher or something

I would reuinte the only line that constantly produced early season, call up Roy and send down Condotta

Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Newhook - Dach - Roy
Anderson - Evans - Gallagher
Heineman - Dvorak - Armia

I would reunite Newhook with Armia and Roy. They were good together last year. Armia was on fire.

Roy - Newhook - Armia

If Newhook is such an effective center Hughes should trade him to Dallas for Bourque.

@donghabs98 was supposed to do today's GDT, but we're an hour from game time & it isn't up yet.

If he puts it up, we'll close this one & use his. But, I made this one a GDT just in case he forgot it's a 12:30 p.m. start time & not 7 p.m.

Primeau gets the start today and he needs a solid game win or lose. While the team has not been good you can also say that neither goalie has shown the ability to make a key save at crucial moments.
If this continues I believe Hughes will act, he has to.

With the way the tandem in Laval is playing, the leash is getting shorter and shorter for Primeau.

The coach seems lost.

If the team is going to get embarrassed anyway, I'd rather Dach or Newhook at least get a decent look up the middle during those embarrassments.

I would play Dach at centre until Christmas and then make a decision, moving forward, how he will be utilized.

Dvorak, Evans, what's the difference?

Dvorak is a better puck distributor, that's the difference.
