Responding to someone elsewhere who put all the blame on goaltending...

--------

I'm blaming the coach just as much for not adjusting in game.

When was the last time you thought that SMarty had a handle on the tactics and complexity of in game coaching?

Hutson is a known high risk player so with a 3 goal lead and a known high scoring team, you shift the use to your better defensive defenseman.

SMarty did NOTHING.

If SMarty doesn't trust Pezz, why is he not demanding a better body from Laval? A public bus ride away. By keeping Pezz in the lineup and playing him 4 minutes, the rest of the team has to make up for his lost 10 minutes. In a high energy game, that counts.

Ultimatly this loss is on SMarty first for not adjusting....2nd on Hutson for playing a high risk game and for not stepping up to block a shot. Physically he is who he is and up to the coach to manage his inherit limitations.

Monty could of helped more with a few more key saves...but he isn't Jesus Price. He's what he is, a mid tier goalie with a substantial variance in performance.

EDIT...Pezz was on the ice for 2:58. Why even bother dressing him? Why not dress Struble? Or Youppi?

I just rewatched this game cause I was in and out last night. I really don't think we played that badly. That McMann goal can't go in, that's all on Monty and that's what got the whole thing started.

The 2nd was a competitive period, we end the period 3-2 when it could have or should have been 4-1.

We have to allow for the fact that the Leafs are a very talented hockey team when they're feeling good about themselves, and that's what we gave them in the 3rd. Nylander scores on a nice break but again, what was Monty doing.

Some miraculous saves from Woll continued to build the Leafs confidence and we end up losing far worse on paper than we should have. Oh well, let's see tonight.

I just remembered something that made me feel a whole lot better. Remember a few years back Toronto blew a 4-1 lead to us in Toronto?

It happens lol. Demigod is coming
