hey guys my unsolicited, amateur observations of the night.

- Lots to build on from that first. A lot.
-took their foot off the gas and we're a very, very young team.
-Hutson -5 *see previous point
-Dvorak, Anderson (who I like this year) and Gally - a 5 million dollars line that costs 14 mill. Dvorak and Gallagher are done, cooked, finished.
-Dvorak was what? 3/15 in the circle?
-During this run, Dobes hid some of our warts...as we still cave when aggressively forechecked, and team is still learning how to win / close out games.
-Montembeault is not a no.1. imo. He's had flashes, but he's not consistent and doesn't seem to show up in big moments. 818 tonight and 4 goals in the 3rd period.
The future is not him. He's not entirely to blame, but he was beat tonight by the better playing goalie.
-very curious to see if they can bounce back tomorrow or this is the beginning of a little spiral. they were humbled.
see y'all demain!

I’ve had it with Montembault. He can’t steal any games. Carey Price was the guy until career ending injury. Montembault is because the freaking French media like myself keeps wanting one. But like Theodore, the biggest French trash. The team, the city needs winners. They don’t need to be French. I’m French and I’ve had it. Montembault sucks balls.
People used to regularly shit on Carey Price. Tonight they've shat on Montie.

Not a good game for him. Gave up a couple of soft goals and goaltending was the difference tonight. But I see posters blaming him for everything and that's BS. Some posters aren't able to look at things critically at all. We lose and it's "our goalie sucks blahblahblahlablah..." It's stupid. Some of those goals aren't on him. When you have a guy standing by himself with all the time in the world a foot in front of the goalie, that's not on your netminder.

Montie has stolen us games and is a good starter. No, he's not Carey Price and never will be. But he's not terrible and he does steal us the odd game.

All that being said, Dobbes has played extremely well in his start here. This will only open the door further for him. Hopefully we get a better result tomorrow night.

Monty definitely didn't help us out in this one.
The Matthews goal I'll give him - he's one of the best scorers in hockey.

But, where the f*** was he going on the Nylander goal? That was just embarrassing. The OEL goal was beyond awful. McMann & Robertson goals were bad, too.

Best player for us was Caufield. He should have scored.

Hutson struggled, but so did the rest of the D.

Remnants of old bad habits crept in as Montreal lost its defensive composure in 3rd.

Woll was good, but also got really lucky. We had a ton of scoring chances just couldn't bury them. Habs hit more than a few posts, too.

We were always going to have a "down" game. Too bad it came against the Leafs.

Well, that wasn't what most thought would happen. We should have tightened things up after taking the 3-0 lead but we didn't. Don Cherry used to say it was good to get blown out and just forget it and move on. It sucks getting blown out against the Leafs or Bruins but oh well. It will be interesting to see if they are able to bounce back tomorrow.

Monty didn't have a great game but I don't think he gave up a softie. He did not make many big saves though.

I'm blaming MSL and Dvorak more. That Dvorak -Gally combo was f***ing terrible and should have been benched. Dvorak played 17 minutes and it's way too much. He wasn't even winning faceoffs. Not sure why MSL didn't keep using Andy with Armia and Evans .

Probably one of the worst game in a while for Hutson. He didn't look the same tonight. He didn't skate like he usually does and only made simple plays.

Game of the season tomorrow IMO.

That's why I wasn't celebrating after the 1st. Just too much time left.
I agree there were some of us who were stressing the importance of keeping the pace up.
We started fumbling pucks and getting caught from behind when looking for plays instead of having that clean flow we've had for a decent part of that road trip. I'm worried about tomorrow.
Hutson hit a wall in this one he had nowhere near the jump we've seen from him recently and the results are what we are going to see when he's missing a step.
