funny reading this thread. Therrien bashed for playing his 3rd and 4th lines then they come up with 3 of the 4 goals and somehow Therrien is wrong in all of this.

...Therrien's being bashed for screwing his Top 6; the fact that a 3rd line grinder got two goals an ECHL goalie would have stopped don't erase a damn moronic thing he does...but hey, keep them blinders tight...:shakehead

So let's be honest here, we played terrible and the only reason why we have the lead is how terrible Calgary's goalie is.

Eller isn't playing near bad enough to deserve what MT is doing to him.

Dammit, just got in. What's happening? Short bullet points.
Is DD back on the first line? Eller benched? Smith-Pelly with his first? Was it nice? Thanks in advance!

We'd better not take the foot off the gas in the third. We're bound to be a bit tired.

Gotta keep firing pucks at Ortio..

Flames will be going hard...

This game is far from over.

Why tired? From last game? Come on! They're probably wearing the same jerseys since they didn't sweat yestersay.

Eller is a fringe second liner and a much better 3rd line C. Reality is, he can ask for a trade but he's not a star, it will take time. Making it public will make it even harder.

He may end up on a new team and play worse. They might put him on 3rd line wing and **** will get worse for him. I think if he wants out he talks to his agent and they figure it out.
I dont think Eller has a career outside of Montreal
Its just my opinion tho...
He would be a no name on another team

Feels like the buffalo and Toronto games.

Cant generate much and luckily you ran into a terrible goalie.

Im sure its the therrien genius coming shining thru tho. Guy is the only reason the team is successful

MT takes DD off and puts the Plekanec line out for the last 15 seconds. Is he learning from his mistakes?

There is hope at least. Or it is just the random good result among many puzzling decisions.

In other news, aside from Eller who's being benched, only Mitchell has less TOI than Galchenyuk. But that's all on him that he can't develop with this precious ice time he's generously being given by Therrien.

How Byron, a guy that went through waivers and is playing his second game this season, plays more than our (supposed) #2C is baffling.

NEWSFLASH: Galchenyuk is playing on the 3rd line, and bordering the 4th one.

Not sure how being unhappy and wanting out of a place where you haven't been able to grow much is having an attitude.

Galchenyuk isn't borderline 4th line. Not with 2:27 PP TOI/GP. He's middle 6 right now.

Eller has attitude now?..

always has. I remember his first year in the NHL Danny Dubé reported that Eller came with a big head. Saw himself as a first line scoring guy as he demoslihed the various leagues in Denmark. Dubé said he's seen that from a few kids who score on weak competition. Repeated the same thing a couple of years ago. Then Lars' comments at the end of last season. Seems to have his pouting face on right now too.

...especially when Emelin was the main culprit and Petry the secondary one on the goal "that was Eller's fault", apparently...:shakehead

So you were ok with sekac asking for a trade?

I am sure MT is justified to bench Eller. That's not what bugs me...what bugs me is that MT has different standards for different players.
DD cost this team a point or 2 last night but not a peep, no accountability.

Im sure he followed the blues closely back then....

Watch a game instead of a scoreboard.

Might learn something that numbers wont teach you

oh I am. Can't believe this board is actually defending Eller of all people. Completely MIA the last few games. Don't mind Galchenyuk but he's not helping himself either.

I think he does but he won't have the same following, that's all. A lot of hype here and a lot of unfair expectations that come with it.

Of course, this does not justify benching him tonight.

Yes, Calgary's goalie sucks, but those were two horrible turn-overs by the Flames D on the last 2 Habs goals. I thought D was supposed to be a Flames strength, but they don't look too good.

Of course, neither does our D right now.

Happy for Beau & DSP for getting their first goals. Big time shot from Beau and DSP is one of the only players on the team (the other Gallagher) who has showed up each game from the beginning of the season, so well deserved by him. Nice pass from Byron too.

It's Therrien's fault for creating a second line that has no hope whatsoever of accomplishing anything. He's the one who created a situation in which it is more beneficial to play our 3rd and 4th lines than our 2nd.

The lines being what they are, I have no problem if we roll three lines the entire game, because the other three lines are actually effective.

I'd rather not play Chucky 18 mins a game if it means that Flynn also plays 18 mins a game as a result.

Sorta.

Very reminiscent of the Buffalo and Toronto games.
