The Molson quote is getting traction in the media.

Was pretty dumb to even bring up Tavares' name at all even if it isn't tampering. You shouldn't be talking about players under contract with other teams.

It goes without saying the Habs would be extremely interested in Tavares if he were available. Why even mention it to the media...

False hope used to distract them from the 8.5 million in cap space that we have that makes absolutely zero sense.

Feeling pressure I guess to emit an odor of heavy behind-the-scenes brainstorming. They're running out of fan favorites to jettison.

Didn't they get Benning fined two years ago for talking about Subban publicly?

Don't talk about other contract players publicly. It's simple.

Not sure how anyone who is responsible for a franchise would actually do something that get's them fined. Lack of judgement from this group, as it appears to be their MO.

Doesn't seem to be the sharpest move. I don't know if they will get fined. But it wouldn't surprise me if Molson got a call from the league and the Isles on the matter today when word got to them.

I was listening to MB talking about the situation with Radulov, and i taught about how excited i would be if he would still be here about the upcoming season, first time in like forever that we would have a great forward group, exciting players with ton of skills.. But now i feel so meeeh about the season to come, im sooo disappointed in MB, he just couldnt get that team to the next level.

Don't think he will get a fine, but he shouldn't have mentioned his name.

I think what saves him from being fined is that he didn't mention the Habs have held talks with the Isles on a possible deal. He just said that he and MB talk everyday about all kinds of possibilities. And like you said, he should simply have left it at that without mentioned any names. It's not because he broke a rule, but more because it is an unnecessary distraction.

There is a difference to what Benning did two years ago when he outright spoke about having had discussions on a possible Subban trade. I recall he also mentioned going after Stamkos (at the time, Stamkos was Lightning property). I could be wrong, but it wasn't only Montreal that filed a complaint with the league, but the Bolts did, as well.

Did MB really let Markov go for 1 freaking millions?
Just one millions dollars, are you serious?

Now he say that Schlemko will be Weber's partner?
Man, this is hard to swallow that pill.

Was listening to the NHL Network on Sirius XM and can't remember who the person on air was but was someone at the Golf Tourney. In any case, he said that Markov was offered between 3.5-4M with the rest being bonuses.
Assuming this is true, what we don't still know is what the bonus constraints are. Can't speculate if they were fair or unfair, possible or impossible.

If we get a top 6 forward (not tavares) or a top 4 D, chances are we will have to trade prospects instead of roster players. We wouldve likely needed 4 more million in capspace (not including the 3 million we would already have) for that player + for acquiring depth players at other positions.
So who's contract could easily be ridden of to make that space?

I know there are those that are fairly high on our prospects but our prospects aren't worth that much. We are not going to be able to get a #1C (or #2C) or a top 4 D with the prospects (And draft picks) that we have. They just aren't that good. So unless we offer roster players plus prospects and draft picks it's nigh on impossible. Not sure we could make such a trade even with roster players included unless we use roster players like Patches. Therefore, we would need to factor whatever cap space those roster players have, plus our sizable cap space, plus by the time the trade deadline comes, whomever we trade for, their cap hit would be much lower. Taking all that into account, our cap space is HUGE.
Frankly speaking, with our lack of prospects that are worth a dime I just don't see us able to make a trade for a player that fits our holes.

This is YOUR opinion and it's not rooted in reality.

The Habs acquired Jeff Petry, a top 4D, for a 2nd round pick.

Don't tell me they can't get a top 6C or top 4D with our prospects and draft picks.

Some will try (bolted part above). Apparently we have zero prospects and all our future draft picks will also suck. It's doomsday until Bergevin is fired and we can start to stock pile "evidence" why the next GM will suck too. Factoring in reality is not an option to some people because it doesn't support their narrative that they want Bergevin fired. They already made up their mind and doesn't even matter if we acquire Tavares or not.

Just saw Galchenyuk walking around, he's not fat. Gained mass in the upper body, shoulders/chest.

You've been here long enough. This is the time of year when people here enjoy analyzing shirtless photos (or shirt on photos in this case) of hockey players and making judgments about their fitness based upon that. Remember when Emelin's pic created a firestorm a few years back?

Emelin don't = Galchenyuk.

If Galchenyuk wants to work out all off season to get ready for this season, it shows that he is committed to being a better hockey player and improving our team and changes to win. Will is work? We will see but he does look to be in great shape and hopefully he is stronger. We need him at his best and healthy!

$5M (with bonuses) for one year of Markov when he would be age 39 when this years playoffs comes around is not an unrealistic offer IMO.
