He would be the heaviest forward on Laval’s team and like you said post-draft he got good comments about his board play and defensive efforts + good shot. Average IQ & puck skills, powerful stride but not a quick skater.

Laval could really use that kind of player (paired with Kidney for example).

He traded Hillis to CHI for Beaudin (both on ELCs) last year. And right after, he made an AHL deal with CHI to acquire Riley McKay.

This time he makes an NHL deal with BUF for Cederqvist and immediately made a minor league deal with BUF for Jandric.

For Laval, yes. They are fighting for a playoff spot and have played very well since mid-December. They just lost multiple players to long term injuries and needed some help to keep going.

Cederqvist should also add some much needed size for Laval at the forward position. Elite Prospects lists him at 6'3" and 203 lbs.

They dont have many forwards who are both 6' or more and 200 lbs or more.

They have Condotta, Yaremko, McKay, Novak (who they just called up from 3R). There is also Légaré, but he's out for a while.

So Cederqvist should add some size. Don't know enough about him to know if he plays like a big man, but the size is there.
