Electricity is really just organized lightning.
So there are self righteous patriots on both sides of the pond?
Shocking.
People everywhere need to grow thicker skin.

Just fine, we know it's your culture. It's your "it's everyone against us" and you act like it, which will ultimately create an atmosphere which holds true. If you want to get the most out of the "us against them" mentality, good for you. That you think this is how the international atmosphere should be (that's pretty evident by now), good for you.
But then don't come asking for other nations to sit in your lap and lick your shoes. You reap what you sow. Actions will have reactions, it's nothing strange. If you think you are the sole actors on an international scene which dictates how things should be, it will have consequences.
So, collectively act like pompous ******** and Swedes will mentally strangle you. Listen what other nation's fans have to say about this for crying out loud, it's pretty evident to see. It's not like they like how Canadians collectively act either.
Where did Sweden finish again? Fourth?
why do canadians seem so phased? i couldnt be any less phased. we are the best at hockey at every level. its all good.
I just looked up this "Jante Law" thing and it made me immediatly think of what teenage girls do to each other to try and tear certain girls down. That is nothing to be proud of.
Is that what you want to represent your country? I am certainly feeling alot better about you not getting a medal if this is the case.
Including blowing 3-goal leads in the third period of a championship game.
It started before the tournament even began when they came out and basically said they weren't even worried about the Canadians and that the Americans were the favourites...
...The sign was from the Swedes congratulating the Russians on winning the gold medal, but it might as well have been sent to team Canada because they were clearly trying to rub it in their faces.
It almost seemed as of the Swedes were going out of their way to get under team Canada's skin throughout the entire tournament and although it was rendered meaningless in the end, hopefully it is something the Canadians will remember.
Eh, no...It's something that a majority of Swedes are trying to get away from and is absolutely nothing to be proud of. It is beginning to change now when the Social Democrats are losing their hold on the minds and behavior of Swedes but is still prevalent in society.
You could see Jante as the polar opposite of the general mindset of Americans and the US, where success is a positive and where people are admired for attaining success in any given field.
There is a paradox here though, because Sweden could easily be seen as one of the most "Americanized" countries in the world.

While Sweden is an excellent hockey nation, this year's world juniors made one of the biggest mistakes in sports...showing no respect for their opponents. Nothing good can come out of this kind of mentality in sports. No one likes it and everyone will be hoping to see you fail. This can motovate opponents and make play harder than they normally would, maybe even leading some players to attempt to injure your players. Officials are more prone to giving your opposition the benifit of the doubt on calls as well.
If Sweden wants to become a hockey power viewed in the same light as Canada or Russia, they need to learn to keep these kinds of unsportsmanlike comments to themselves.
Quiet, omnipotent Canadian. It is so typical of Canadians (hint: generalization) to misinterpret even the slightest - and practically non-existent - "opposing" comment, action or whatever, against Canada as a team (which this isn't even in any way). As so many others have already mentioned - this is ridiculous! You are just pissed because a team did not subject themselves and name you their king.
And I hope you know that many teams generally find your team - Canada - as an "unsportsmanlike" hockey nation who uses every single veto available to get in control. Actually I think Canada has this label throughout the world. So please, before you go megaton and blame the Swedes for being "cocky" (wow, talk about shooting yourself in the foot) maybe you should look at your own team?
And you say Sweden showed no respect for their opponents. Wow. I beg to differ, since you base this on a comment giving credit to another team; consequently congratulating the winners. How dare they.
I know this is OT and both these posts will most likely be removed, but this is utter ********.
"Prevalent in society" WRONG! I have never ever met a single person who is ashamed of their success or think they can't grow up to be something great.
Jantelagen is a myth, more or less.
And then the icing on the cake to Sweden's obvious discontent for the Canadians was when TSN showed a congratulatory sign that was posted on the Russian locker room door almost immediately following their gold medal win. The sign was from the Swedes congratulating the Russians on winning the gold medal, but it might as well have been sent to team Canada because they were clearly trying to rub it in their faces.
Yes, even the U-20's...why do canadians seem so phased? i couldnt be any less phased. we are the best at hockey at every level. its all good.
