i disagree

i think its high time that we put in the youngsters...honestly, you dont think we have better option then crosby at 40 ? come on

Martone is more then capable, he has something that Canada is missing and thats size...in 2 years he will be 15 pounds heavier

Also, i dont mind Guenther on a third high scoring line...i dont want to see 3 defensive lines anymore...
At the end of the day, Canada has no shortage of options and we will have the BEST forwards at the tournament - perhaps by a considerable margin.

For anyone saying Carter hart as an option, well forget it!!!

He is horrible...Always on the ground for such a small goalie...Carolina beating him high

Hart not giving a chance for Vegas to win

Anyone else like the way Rod Brind'Amour coaches?

One thing I really respect is that he's not afraid to make decisions. If a line isn't working, he changes it. If a player is struggling, he adjusts. Too many coaches stick with the same combinations for weeks hoping things magically improve.

Brind'Amour seems willing to switch lines, move players up or down the lineup, and make adjustments during games to find what works. His teams also play hard every night, are well-conditioned, and know exactly what's expected of them.

What do you think are his biggest strengths behind the bench? is he a possibility going forward? is he to Defensive?

My projected Team Canada 2028 roster:

Forwards

The new generation

  • Bedard – Celebrini – Johnston
The prime generation
  • McDavid – Fantilli – Suzuki
The veteran core
  • MacKinnon – Point – Marner
Big, young, skilled
  • Byfield – Guenther – Sennecke
Extra: Martone and Maybe Mckenna

Defense
  • Makar – Harley
  • Clarke – Schaefer
  • Bouchard – Chychrun
  • Power
Extra: Morrissey

At some point, Team Canada has to stop relying on the same group that keeps falling short in big international tournaments. I'd rather see the roster turn the page and build around elite young talent and high-end skill.

As for guys like Toews, Cirelli, Hagel, Theodore, and Jarvis, I'm ready to move on. Nothing against them personally, but I'm tired of seeing the same formula and expecting different results. Give me the players who can drive offense, make plays, and take over games when it matters. AND BIG !!!!

2028 should be about the future, not rewarding past performances.

Forgive me but you have a bunch of players on their wrong side. :(

Good picks. I am high on Fantilli as well. Byfield has more to prove for me before I consider him a lock, but he could be an excellent 2-way option for this team and is in the running. Still think Sid should be there, he's better than > 75% of our roster right now at 40.

Defensively, Morrissey disappointed me at both 4NF and the Olympics. I don't know if he's as dynamic as a puck mover on the NHL stage compared to BoB. He had some moments in the 4NF, but that role will be filled by Clarke, Schaefer and Bouchard this time around. I'd rather have Shea Theodore over Owen Power right now and probably in 2028... Theodore is just a flat out better player. We will see what D emerge for Canada in the coming years. It's more wide-open that the forward group IMO and I'd like to see an elite shutdown-D like a Vlasic or Weber emerge for Canada.

Re : "Morrissey disappointed me at both 4NF and the Olympics."

Morrisey was injured in Game 1 at the Olympics - which was beyond his control.

Shea Theodore is a terrific player. They both are.

I’d be fine going back to Cooper as long as he gets no say in roster building, but it’s very difficult to watch Carolina play and think Brind’amour is not the coach with the best tactical nous and buy in in the NHL. If there’s going to be a switch, he’s the man

This is likely how management is thinking IMO. NOT necessarily my PICKS
Forward Locks:

McDavid
MacKinnon
Bedard
Celebrini
Johnston
Marner
LIKELY:
Crosby
Suzuki

That's 8/13 forwards right there. Now the question becomes what roles need to be filled in addition to this group?
1. The group lacks scoring options that bring size. Wyatt Johnston is the tallest at 6'1.
2. Front-of-net presence. Crosby and Suzuki are the only real options
3. PKers. Suzuki and Marner are the only reliable PKers
4. FO Ability. Crosby is the only guy above 55% here.

MY ADDITIONS
1. Porter Martone and/or Adam Fantilli to fix problem #1
2. Beckett Sennecke to fix problem #2
3. Bo Horvat and/or Robert Thomas to address problems #3 and #4.

Depending on how you construct this. That leaves anywhere from 1-3 spots:
Dylan Guenther
Logan Stankoven
Brayden Point
Brandon Hagel
Seth Jarvis
Quinton Byfield
Sam Reinhart
Sam Bennett
Tom Wilson
Gavin McKenna

ill agree and disagree
i never want to see: Jarvis Reinhart Bennett Stankoven - We can go Younger and bigger with other players

As for coach, i dont know

Lots of fear and gut reactions because of the Olympics. Canada was the better team. They win that game 9/10. The stars aligned and Mcdavid, Celebrini missed breakaways. Toews and Mackinnon missed wide open nets. Thats just the 4 note worthy chances that were missed. The odds of all of those not going in are astronomically low. 3 on 3 is a crapshoot. The US won and they get to brag but lets not get carried away with this result.

I don't think anyone has "fear". Just regrets from a roster construction standpoint. It really seemed Canada was a one-line team in terms of offence. That should never happen if you're Canada. Schaefer, Bedard, Scheifele, Bouchard. Plenty of regrets. Everyone is well aware that Canada was the better team

They also lose 9/10 times to Czech or Finland if you’re down late like they were.

The point is, the team wasn’t good enough. You can’t play with fire for 3 straight elimination games and expect to win gold.
