I dont know about beating Canada, they could certainly give them alot of trouble though....

Yet I concur, Sweden has looked FANTASTIC, even in the loss to Russia. They looked better in beating most teams than Russia, did in trully convincing fashion, and improved (more or less) with every game.

I really expect Sweden to handle Finland quite comfortably. Laugh now, but we shall see.

i agreed. on the sports talk, dan russel got a guest that's seen all the games in pool b. He thinks Malkin is the real deal, but he thinks Sweden is the top team in that pool. Gonna be interesting.

Sweden has had a tough schedule, and had to travel to Vancouver for their game against Finland. Our coach says that the players looked very tired the last game, and that he was worried.

If he in some way can motivate them and get them back on their feet even though theyre physically and mentally exhausted, we might have a 35% chanse of winning.

Our first line needs to produce, and we cant affoard to let in even one cheap goal.

Its a shame us Swedes dont get to see the game.. :(

Sweeden and Finland rivalry is always a good game, always so much riding on the games, if your the coaches you know your boys are gonna play fired up, should be a good game, I doubt anyone will win by 3 or more, no blowouts, close game if raask plays good, he seems like a confident goalie and he plays angles good most the time and doesnt cough up rebounds in the slot.

the other Q-final should be good, havent seen the russians or czechs play alot, except the pre turny game Canada played against the czechs, Frolik has alota skill you know, and then evgeni malkin lead russian team, they scored 5 goals in the 3rd last game, but this is 1 game showdown. I have a good feeling in my stomach that the czechs will give kessel and robbie shremp and the states a good game, they beat them last year and have played them tough over the last few years at the WJC man, the russian and czech goalies could be shakey man, its gonna be good to see what shakes down, but like someone said on this thread its a 1 game do-or-die you cant afford to have players not show up, its all about whos gonna step up and be the hero in theese pressure games now baby :D :D

Finest moment in swedish hockeyhistory since the gold in the olympics (yes even better than WC 98). Dammit, I cried because it was such a beautiful moment. Besides, it is one of the best chants I can think of when you meet some finnish people "5-6 Hartwell Arena"... Magic, I love the crazy eyes from Sundin, I love how the finn's are all petrified of Forsberg on the 5-5 goal.

Yes, Swedish fans cherish moments like this in the World Championships because in the juniors Finland always wins, and when it's best on best Finland leads with the 2-1 win from Nagano (Salt Lake didn't play each other and World Cup was 4-4)
Oh and in medals, Finland bronze in Nagano and Silver in World Cup :jump: , Sweden.. nothing. :biglaugh:

For the World Championships, we have a similar moment from 1999 in Norway when Sweden equalised the second semi-final but still lost (in overtime) despite Sulander gifting a goal or two to the Swedes. :teach:
About '98, woudn't be too proud about that, we had 1 NHL player in Janne Laukkanen, you had like 15 with Forsberg and Sundin and all and only scored once against us in 120 minutes.. :dunno: :madfire: :jump:

:help: The wife inserted the smilies, she thinks they are so cute they deserve to be posted =)

Sweden seems like they will take care of Finland and then will give a lot of trouble to team Canada. Every single game they have been improving and I think they are about to peak in the next couple of days. I really think that this team can actually win the whole thing, their confidence is very high right now.

:biglaugh:

I can't believe Sweden could not score on this Finland, they were about 2 times better team. I guess I was wrong. I understand why McGuire cheered for Finland, he knows it's Canada's ticket to the final game....

I thought that Finland was your ticket to Canada, and the finals?

McGuire was cheering for the Finns because Rask is a Leaf draft pick.
