I mean I get how intense he is for the USA, its really comical
there's a clear difference when he calls college hockey games.

when it comes to the calls, in seriousness, the IIHF is a lot more black-and-white when they apply the rules. They don't do what the NHL does and figure out the rules as they go and do shit like makeup calls.

First review, he bumped into the goalie, in the crease. The rule is clear. If it were NHL, it probably counts. This one probably counts too. But this isn't an NHL game.

At least half of the Canadian fans are Leafs fans who had to live through the disallowed game 7 goal against Tampa, so that's something at least.

The first goal should've counted, and even if the second should have been overturned for this to happen twice is both optically embarrassing and incredibly unlikely.

US might want to try scoring without goaltender interference. Generally a better strategy.

They know it’s not a goal but who is going to advocate against their own team?

Can’t blame them for trying to get some PPs.
True, but refs will give you a pp, they're not going to start counting goals that shouldn't count because of it.

Some posters are really outing themselves as not knowing the rules of hockey.
To be fair, the USA coach pretty much underlined the problem with hockey rules in general by putting two fingers up. Because the first one should have counted, he obviously felt the refs owed them a goal that I'm sure he knew should not have counted. Game management/make-up calls are going to happen when you have a sport with such vague and seemingly fluid/arbitrary rules.
