Imagine TC with Bedard and Celebrini, and the rarely mentioned Benson. Zero concerns about offensive creativity and finish. And they could really use Benson's fundamentally sound, dog-on-a-bone play style.

I think they are having issues channeling their emotions given the intensity of the home tournament and the NYE game in particular.
It’s the coach’s job to do that.
Well, that’s nothing new.
All of the jokes about Canadians and their A, B, C team excuses fail to mention that most of the fans are not including those guys because they weren’t available at all.
They are beyond this tournament at this point. Just like Will Smith.
What is baffling is how many of the most highly skilled guys that are fully available weren’t on the team, or even more egregious, not invited to camp at all.

A biased Oiler fan, I've been of course cheering for B Akey. I admittedly don't follow prospects like a lot of you, but he has looked good in his very limited ice time. With the injury to Shaefer, should he have had or now be given more ice time?

...or better yet...sent a message earlier in the tournament and stopped this approach. Cowan is playing reasonably otherwise even if more unsuccessfully than one might hope or expect.
But of course the tournament is too short to involve holding players accountable...

Come on man, every fan knows Canada is still top dog. Still makeup 50% of the NHL.
US next closest at 25%. Difference since 1988 is Canada needs max effort to win and not just throw jersey on like the 1950-1980 era against every nation except Soviets.
Thats the difference in IIHF Hockey land now.
US has made selection mistakes in the past like Connor and Garland on 2016 Team and Marino in 2017.

Is what it is and I'm sure all the old big six countries have made plenty of mistakes in their evaluations of players. I could go back to the 1980-81 team where Jeff Grade and
Keith Knight who were taken at 17 over 19 year old Scott Bugstad and 18 year old Tom Fergus. That same team took Pat Ethier over Chris Chelios.
I think Canada sent Hawerchuk's Cornwall team and an average at best US Team beat them 7-3. I watched Div 2 ULowell beat that US Jr Team by 3-4 goals.

I never said that they didn’t.
What stands out about this year is how early people had concerns with how this team was selected and managed, that’s all.
Canada is still a favorite, they could still win, they have just underwhelmed in ways that were predicted quite a while ago.
Hockey Canada seems to forget that this is the same coach that was behind the bench during 2011 Gold Medal collapse vs. Russia and near collapse again at the 2022 Gold Medal vs. Finland when Mason Mctavish saved what could have been a Finnish golden goal leading to Kent Johnson's golden goal for Canada in OT. They must have brought back because he coaches the Ottawa 67s since the World Juniors are held here in Ottawa
Hockey Canada needs a reality check if Canada fails to medal at the World Juniors for the second year in a row. They need to look at everything down from the coaching, scouting, and player selection when it comes to preparing for the World Juniors.

We are talking top dog here and I never posted it .I only responded u have to go by pros not a bunch of kids.Last 4 times USA Canada played for Gold head to head in WJC the USA won them all I heard Bob McKenzie say.I could look it up but I trust his word.
And Cowans cross check on Bauim in the 1st period sohuld have go a 5 and a game as well. It went unpunished. Cowan made up for it in the third LOL.
