Canada actually has significantly more Bald Eagles than the United States.

On top of that, when the USA populations were collapsing in the 80s, Canadians went out and scooped up a bunch of eaglets from Canada to send over to help out. Cause that's what neighbors do.

"Bagged, and banded, and not very happy about it," Webb reported, the captured juvenile was added to the rest of the catch, and flown to the eastern U.S., "courtesy of Canadian goodwill."

In my brief research of the situation... the US has 316k bald eagles in the lower 48 states.. plus another 30k in Alaska alone.

What i have seen ..Canada has 110k bald eagles.

These numbers are from each of the countries official wildlife government agencies.

I wouldn't categorize guys like Parayko and Toews as gritty at all. What an odd assessment. Canada does have guys that play a hard (er) game in the bottom half of their lineup so they aren't going to be taken advantage of physically, but I don't think the U.S. will either. Also, guys like Eichel and Matthews, while not what I would call "gritty", play a style that wears down opponents in the offensive zone. If the U.S. gets a cycle going with these guys, it's going to hard on the Canadian defenders.
What? I said Parayko, Toews and Doughty are grittier than every other US Dmen beside McAvoy. So why is that an odd assessment at all?

Those guys are gritty but not mean and nasty. Watching the first two games i don't think there's any doubt the US is the more physical team.
Canada is grittier than US in totality. Tkachuks and Miller only forwards that take the body consistently. Bennett, Hagel, Konecny, Cirelli and Marchand all do. Crosby and MacKinnon are more suited to it than Eichel and Matthews. Trocheck and Krieder can use the body but not much more than Jarvis.

If you think the US will play more physical tonight than Canada, you're in for a rude awakening.

Leah gets the interviews tonight, when we will hear gripping questions like, "Do you feel that playing with more intensity helps your team?"
🤣 somebody shoukd really take her under their wing and help. Starting to feel sorry for her.

McAvoy has stunk for last two seasons. In top 5 for worst contracts.

We tend to agree about McAvoy but none of the other US D-Men play a remotely
physical game. McAvoy is the only guy Canada needs to keep their head up for.

It wouldn't surprise me.

There's 10X as much pressure on the Canadian squad.

Crosby is going to have to play the game of his life and settle down the boys.

Good luck! Weather around here lately has been a bit nuts.

It’s a good thing all these players on Canada thrive on pressure, it makes them better.

There is variability among estimates, with it being further complicated by the fact that a large proportion migrate across the border.

Under COSEWIC assessment reports, Canada's population was estimated between 50,000-500,000.

They also claim that Canada has 55% of the world's population, again, muddied by the fact that many of these same eagles spend winters in the USA.

Either way, my initial claim that Canada has significantly more does appear to be incorrect. My bad.
