Too many stretch passes for my liking and not enough Celebrini but other than noted plug Fraser Minten thought that was a decent period from Canada. Sweden checks well in the NZ, TC should keep a fwd trailing.

Entertaining period. I liked Canada's game a lot until the penalty, but even after that the team played well. Sweden looks explosive if not cohesive yet. I'm not sure that Minten should be playing on that line honestly, plays die on his stick. Really liked Warren's play in that period for whatever reason. Rousseau looked composed as well, nice to see.

Entertaining first period. Excellent pace and physicality from both teams.

A bit of overpassing from Canada. Strong work on the PK over the 4:00 minute double minor was a high point for them.

Crowd seems awesome.

Yeah, that Savoie 3 on 1 died when he had the speed to probably beat the Swedish dman on his own. Need more pucks to the net and then recover instead of having passing plays die. Lanes aren't there like they were vs Finland.

“ completely able to shut down the PowerPlay”

I wouldn’t go that far, there was a massive save, and a missed wide-open net lol

Rousseau showing why Hockey Canada should just pick the best French guy from the Q to play net every year.

You think a scrappy lil guy named Mathis Rousseau isn't gonna stand on his head?
Very impressive period by Rousseau. He is the biggest surprise for me.

There was a lot of odd man rushes against Sweden, 3 on 2's, 1 on 2's. The Swedes were able to catch up and negate them, but how long can they keep that up?

Also some poor choices on those odd man rushes from the Canadians as well, passing to a covered man, waiting to long to shoot and allowing the trailing man to catch up

Good period from Canada, I think they had the better chances and carried more of the play.

Need to calm down and bury some of these shots.

The Swedish D are mobile and physical. Need to get on them on the forecheck to force turnovers.

Sweden has a good team, but I thought we carried the play more at 5 v 5 as well.

The Swedes D gave up the puck a lot with a hard forecheck imo. Keep that up and good things will happen.
