Because it was a clean hit to the side.....

Refs got that one right.

You can cleary see him hit him in the numbers but sure it was from the side, LOL

Not a big deal but not sure why people have to lie about what happened..

They always call harsh penalties in these international games for hits like that.

Should have been a 2 pretty textbook boarding. Particularly under iihf standards. If that's gonna be let go and that's the precident now the canadians should let the boys run wild

IIHF OFFICIAL RULE BOOK 2022/23 – SECTION 06 97PHYSICAL FOULS RULE 41 BOARDING41.1. BOARDINGA boarding penalty shall be imposed on any Player who checks or pushes a defenseless opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the Boards violently or dangerously

Thought this would apply but I guess they didn't call anything initially and by rules they were only looking for the 5 min penalty and can't review a 2 min penalty like boarding most likely.

it had to do with not being a penalty.

you are right. nothing to do with toughness.

nice to see Refs doing the right thing.

Half his body was facing the boards, he was trying to curl out of it, push on the back, not sure how it is not a hid from behind, but whatever.

If the Geekie hit which was clean is a penalty not sure how they justify that as being clean.

If you read the thread you'd think they're doing a great job.

They aren't, that type of inconsistency is embarrassing
They got it correct imo.

Kids need to learn to take a hit. Turning into the boards is probably the most idiotic move you can do.

You can't call the Geekie hit a penalty and then have a non-call there, that's the problem.

Don't call any penalties, I am sure Canadians would prefer it...

They have been calling penalties all game, they just ignored one, this has nothing to do with toughness.
But it wasn't boarding or roughing. Watch the play tomorrow when the adrenaline has dropped.

Good call, that was nothing. He had the Swedish player on the back when he turned so no hit in the back
