Agree on all points. Don't forget Myers too!

Hextall is a starting to look like the one of the very top drafting minds in the NHL.

Of course, getting a guy like Myers as a FA is pretty awesome. Many thought he could have gone in the first round this year. Hopefully being injured right now doesn't hurt his WJC chances.

Hextall is making Flyers fans pretty damn happy right now, not just his drafting either. Basically everything we want to happen and discuss on our board is happening. Getting rid of contracts like Lecavalier/Pronger/Umberger, stockpiling draft picks, making good selections with those picks, being patient with prospects, making smart FA signings to fix the bottom 6, and really everything else he's done so far.

There's no guarantee that our prospects will turn out or that we'll win a cup within the next decade, but if we don't it's not going to be because of bad management.

Yeah he's doing a great job, definitely proving himself to be one of the best in the business. Still can't believe you guys got Provorov and Konecny in the 1st.

Konecny to me seems like an old school Flyers player. He's got skill and he's tough as nails. I personally want to see him have a massive WJC, he's the best player on the ice so far.

They were talking during the broadcast that Provorov might possibly even be going back to Brandon. Living in Western Canada I get to see Provorov lots and he was by far the best Dman in the dub, and arguably the best player in the entire WHL. It would be frightening for other teams if he's back for another year in the WHL.

Last game lineup for Finland

31 Veini Vehviläinen
1 Markus Ruusu

10 Kasper Björkqvist - 25 Julius Nättinen - 33 Eeli Tolvanen
28 Jesper Mattila - 18 Vili Saarijärvi

27 Teemu Väyrynen - 20 Julius Mattila - 13 Topi Piipponen
2 Miro Heiskanen - 3 Henri Jokiharju

34 Kristian Vesalainen - 22 Arttu Ruotsalainen - 9 Janne Kuokkanen
4 Otto Leskinen - 5 Jarkko Parikka

12 Erik Embrich - 32 Aapeli Räsänen - 37 Otto Mäkinen
29 Juuso Välimäki - 35 Kasper Kotkansalo

21 Otto Somppi

I'm not surprised why Tolvanen hasn't scored so much.
Vesalainen plays 3rd line and Räsänen 4th line.

Those lineups are one big mess.
Is Rautakorpi lost his mind or why Vesalainen Räsänen Tolvanen line is separated.

Also if Finland wants win medal in world juniors our TOP4 defencemen's can't be undersized midgets.

I would be incredibly surprised if Provorov didn't make the Flyers. Only way he's back in the CHL is if he has an awful camp/preseason... which I don't anticipate happening.

The reason they're mentioning that there's even a chance of him going back is because Hextall has made it very clear that nobody gets gifted a spot. Being drafted 7th overall means nothing unless he proves he's better than one of the vets already signed. If he proves that then Hextall will make room for him with a trade, same as he did for Ghost this past year. That said, he knows that another year in the WHL would be a waste of time for Provorov... what else can he learn at that level?

Finland might be young, but they didn't give in, and I appreciated that. Canada put everything they could on Vehvillainen and he stood tall, minus the Konecny goal (pretty weak from my view). The Finns kept plugging away and capitalized when they needed it. I'm curious to see how different the teams will be come December.

Must note: The crowd was pretty impressive, both fans and scouts/media. A pretty solid 50/50 mixture.

I knew as soon as that guy came in on the right hand side that a goal was going to be scored.

Anyway, good game Finland.

The score now stands 1072-24 in favour of Canada.

For the world juniors, I think they should just clump the best players from countries like Germany, Suisse, Denmark into one team. It would make the matches more competitive. They should also include a Under 18 team with players from Canada and the US as many good young players can't make the team. It would showcase the talent better.

I get you're just being a baby about the world cup.

But it's not the same comparison the world cup can't just be the same as the Olympics that would be stupid and boring. The gimmick teams make it it's own thing. Plus the different format.

It used to be like the Olympics because nhl player's couldn't go. But until they pull the nhl out of the Olympics again I'd rather it be different.

And the world juniors is more even than the Olympics are. Being that canada can never take their best players cuz they tend to be in the nhl. Plus the drafting for canadas world Junior teams is always questionable.

We had that 4 year or whatever gold streak but we didn't even medal last year.

Konecny on the fourth line confuses me, same with Chabot on the third pairing. Nonetheless, excited to see some summer hockey.

Does HC ever put the lines in order? Clearly those were the top line/pair as evidenced by the start and obviously ice time.

He and Beauvillier look excellent together. Very fast line 5 on 5. Had some very nice passes on the PP as well.

Beauvillier was who I wanted in 2015 when we were picking 29th. Of course he ended up going 28th to the Islanders, who had a great first round.

No. Canada has a lot more players, even if Canada could play only their C or D team they'll still be better than us. Canadians love hockey, they'll continue play it. If they play, they are better.

Not close.
When Finland gets another Lehtinen-Koivu-Selänne Canada is going to be in trouble.
