For the world juniors, I think they should just clump the best players from countries like Germany, Suisse, Denmark into one team. It would make the matches more competitive. They should also include a Under 18 team with players from Canada and the US as many good young players can't make the team. It would showcase the talent better.

Konecny on the fourth line confuses me, same with Chabot on the third pairing. Nonetheless, excited to see some summer hockey.

Konecny with a pretty soft goal. 1-0 for Canada.

Finns looking not too bad so far though.

The coaches don't need to see these guys play as much... they already know what they're getting from them and they're almost guaranteed a spot if available for the WJC. Better to watch more of the new guys.

Yeah, same reason Marner and Strome might not get a game. Konecny is absolutely a guy guaranteed a spot barring a disastrous start to the season.

Exactly. Konecny has looked good so far, Philly fans are going to love him. The kid plays with a physical edge along with good skill.

I have Konecny as among one of the favourites to wear the 'C'.

Even with a disastrous season, he'd still be there imo. The team is low on offensive skill.

They don't need to see him - and it's also about line combinations. Crouse is also a lock for the team if he's available and I think Jost is close to one.

Ruotsalainen is by far the best Finnish player. Kinda says it all on the offensive talent on that team.

Said this in the prospect thread as well, but I'd kill for the Leafs to get Crouse. I think he got bashed a bit too hard in his draft year by HF, but he is an underrated prospect IMO. He will make any team better because his physical package is so coveted.

Image Crouse with Matthews and Nylander, he'd compliment them very well IMO.

But he'd just about compliment any line on the Leafs IMO

Crouse-Kadri
Crouse-Bozak-Marner
etc.

I think the only way he doesn't make it is if he's on the Flyers, which is possible but semi-unlikely.

Yeah, we're extremely excited about him. Getting both Provorov and Konecny in the same draft is pretty nuts, nice job by Hextall.

And as far as the captaincy goes, if he's there then I think so too, he has a decent shot at it. Seems like a good fit for it based on the way he plays and how he acts off the ice.

Agree on all points. Don't forget Myers too!

Hextall is starting to look like the one of the very top drafting minds in the NHL.

Konecny looks awesome. He reminds me a lot of Parise.

Been watching McLeod pretty closely obviously - I was impressed by him that period, especially in the beginning. I thought he stood out playing with AB and was really a strong possession guy. He uses his speed well and I thought he had a few instances where he slowed himself down enough to make plays and adjust to the defense. The first PP opportunity he was really good IMO.

Only asking because I saw this tweet

Yeah he's looked good for sure. Him and Chabot have been the best two Dmen.

Chychrun is playing like Chychrun, some flashes of amazing talent and skill, and other moments of boneheaded turnovers.
