WC: Canada vs Czechs semi final!

I’m changing my mind and rooting for Canada now. Feel like they are more likely to beat Finland and that’s all I care about.
you just called this tournie irrelevant, yet you are rooting for the most likely team that could beat Finland because all you care about is Finland losing. Ouch.

Canada takes it 5-3.

How can you really believe that someone doesn't care if they spend so much time caring about telling others that they don't care?

The tournie is irrelevant when judging how good the nations are at hockey in general because everyone plays with C-teams. It’s still nice to see your team win. So it’s still nice if Finland don’t win. My favorite hockey national teams are 1.Sweden, 2. Whoever plays Finland with some unlikeable teams sometimes being exceptions. Sure you feel the same way.

That is such an old and boring argument. Think of something new. Live a little and just enjoy the hockey.

Looking terrible the ENTIRE tournament? I wouldn't go that far. Yesterdays game alone would disprove that.
There was no game yesterday but if you mean the game against Sweden, I don't know in whose mind falling behind 3-0 and then getting miraculously saved by score effects is good.

Miraculously saved by score effects..............what does that even mean?

I'm not even going to get into what you could possibly be saying with "there was no game yesterday"

Well, I don't know how time works in Nova Scotia but if it's the same as here then there was no game yesterday. Pretty simple.

Regarding the score effects part, the Swedes took a massive lead and sat back to hold it before shooting themselves in the foot in the final minutes. Also not particularly difficult to understand.

Why would the day of a game even be worth talking about in a thread about hockey? is that all you've got? pretty much.

And who gives a shit what sweden did, that's their mistake, the shots were 19-1 in the 2nd period alone so you can't say Canada has been awful the entire tournament, they were clearly the better team in both the 2nd and third and sweden payed.............and it was Canada that made them pay.

you don't get to the semis at this tournament by stinking out every single game here,

I don't want to talk about the day of the game, I just corrected your mistake. That is indeed pretty much all that has to be said on the topic.

Regarding who cares, well, I do. Yes, Canada had a really good push in the 2nd but it resulted in 0 goals for them. In the third Swedes managed to even the game in terms of possession before, like I said, shooting themselves in the foot. If you think that was a good game I guess that's the difference in opinion.

Which team is the favourite in this game?
Canada for sure. 10 years without a medal for Czechs and Canada in 5 of the last 6 finals.

I still think it'll be a close game and not a 6-0 blowout like at the U20's every Xmas though.

Here's my point and my only point. You don't get to the semis at this tournament by being terrible the ENTIRE tournament, it does not happen, period. When a team comes back from a 3 goal deficit against a team like sweden, one of the true hockey powers, then you know right there that Canada hasn't been terrible for the ENTIRE tournament.

It's not as if sweden scored four own goals on themselves.

Simply put, you're wrong, and anyone who knows anything about hockey and this tournament knows you are off base there.

No changes which I like.

Keys for us:

First line has to keep Canada busy.
Need a goal somewhere from lines 2 to 4.
Vejmelka needs a solid game

I do love Vrana on 3rd line with 2 very defensively responsible guys. He's had a poor tourney but is in a position to succeed down there and I could see it working.

Hertl has worked his ass off but no points to show for it (or note enough) maybe today.

The D is weak spot. Expect Hronek to play around 25 minutes. The rest is a collection of 6 out of 10 type D who skate hard and work hard but don't really influence the game. A collection of Kris Russel's who I suspect will be willing to block any shot but I don't expect a highlight reel tape to tape pass from.

Keys for Canada:

score first
hit us
strong forecheck
Chabot is the best D on the ice AINEC

Canada is the 60-40 fav... but I do think we're capable of an upset here if we can get some secondary scoring and a few Vejmelka steals.

0/10 vs. 5/6 lol nice and convincing answer 👍

Disclaimer: The rosters, esp. CAN/US change dramatically each tournament.

Naturally I've got Canada in this one, but really interested to see how the Czech play. Love me some 🍝 , one of my favourite players. Hertl is no joke, he's still in his prime & coming off a stellar 30 goal NHL campaign.

Good overview, I like your thinking about Vrana on the 3rd line with those guys. Top 2 lines for the czechs can really hurt you, I've loved what Blumel has shown in this tournament, he darts right in there and can really finish off plays, good on the rush, he's dangerous.

This is following the pre-game script.

Early penalty, early goal(s) for Czech, Canada chasing the rest of the game.
