NHL Playoffs Round 1 & 2 is always a lot of hockey to keep up with for anyone with a wife, gf, job, &/or personal life. Even living in Europe the early games of this tournament are pretty un-interesting. Sorry, eh.

By No means am I including all Canadians in hindsight I should’ve probably clarified it with ”the odd boneheaded canadian”. But you have to admit that guys who show up on this sub-board just to talk down to euros when Canada is winning(again) is at the very least disrespectful, especially since the only time they seemingly care is when they can piss all over someone who actually cares for the WHC in the first place.

The Oilers team has a team of destiny feeling it seems like with the way McDavid and Draisaitl are playing. They are on a legendary run right now, it’s unbelievable to witness.

Add in depth contributions from guys like Kane, Hyman, and Nuge. Kuemper to me is also a very beatable goalie that could struggle against the Oilers top end talent.

Another reason I think we matchup well is our team speed. The Oilers thrive playing at the type of pace the Avs want to play at.

Isn't this a Canada-France match? This is undignified what the Czechs are showing, as if after a 3-1 goal they stopped believing that they could do something about it. And Canada was still generous to them, giving them plenty of time to play power games in the first period.

Btw. Czech defenders are one huge and unsuccessful joke that Sklenicka made at Barzal's goal, I really don't know.
 
Well.. i didn't think it'd be a blowout and it is.

No complaints.. we got a bad call in our favor and didn't score. 8 minutes of PP time in a 20 minute period and it ended 1-1.

Vejmelka has been ok but not great. Driedger has been sensational.

It's looking like a classic Canada win.. no ice anywhere, no daylight.. when we do get a chance, Driedger stops us.

Starting period 3 on PK.

Darkest of times. I will cheer to the end! Was hoping to sleep in tomorrow morning too.lol

We don't need what was going on in the Finnish-U.S thread starting here. Your team is not playing in this game, they are at home watching it on t.v.

Feel free to comment on the game, the title on the GDt doesn't say.............."Game day thread for lambasting other teams fans in game my team isn't even playing in"

Relentless indeed. I wish we could instill that drive into some of our players.
 
Canada looked good that period, nothing really fancy but consistently competing. Wheels came off a little for the Czechs as well.

It would have been a more interesting game with fewer penalties but I think most predicted that special teams would be the important factor.

Canada was dominating the pace in the 2nd period. Played a wave after wave style of attacking hockey which is a quintessential Canadian style. I thought Barzal was plainly obviously the best player on the ice.

Czechs have strong firepower upfront. Need to come hard in the 3rd and keep the sustained pressure.

I’ve been a long-standing staunch supporter of international hockey. @jj cale and @NyQuil can confirm. The daytime starts midweek can be tricky at the WHC given how busy my law practice is during the day.

1st Round games were starting 4 am for me, then down to 3:30 or 3 am 2nd round. Now thankfully 2 am! 😅

I actually volunteered for the 2017 IIHF Tourney here in Cologne, saw all the games yada yada. Definitely follow it more being in CET, but still hard to keep up with so much NHL and international this time of year.
 
Whats up with Canada seemingly having an on/off switch?
