Canada Soccer Part VII: Qatar Booked Edition

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Someone make sure AJ doesn't see the field until the Nations League. We need that guy healthy...
Bubble wrap for Davies and AJ.

It's possible Bassong could get a call to be the backup left back if Laryea is out too. That or Raheem and I don't know what way the staff would be leaning.

Kone with the start against PSG and this is the man we know and love. Getting the ball in midfield and running at people, going by some and then dishing at other times. Making runs into the box.

Warms my heart.

Caught a bit of the match. He's so smooth. Tough match up though. The more experience, the better.

Yep - this was a good one for him. Ran his race by the 72nd minute and they conceded two after he left.

He nearly created the second goal but the strikers collided and then he had a left footed shot at the edge of the box, blocked. That he is willing to shoot on the left is important. Gonna need him later this month.

JD has Lille on the board from open play. 1-0 over Montpellier.

Davies did not play today which is perfectly fine by me. They lost 3-2 to Bochum.. Yes,,, Bochum.

Theo Bair starting and has a first half goal as Auxerre lead Reims.

Sigur back in the double pivot. Assist in a big win to go back on top.

Promise David two more goal for USG today, both from open play. . He's on fire.

Kind of wild to see a player come out and say this but I respect it.

Overall a solid squad. I will be curious to see the the starting XI come game day. Some players with knocks and potential fitness issues here - mainly Laryea

My take is that this is very close to what will appear at the World Cup. That will be a 26.

All the questionable players with injuries are here. Creps, Laryea, Choiniere and Shaff.

Tani beat out Bair. Marsch just loves Tani's athleticism.

I am a tad surprised the left side has been left so vulnerable.. no Hoilett is the biggest one for me. Shaff hasn't played so far this season. So that leaves:

1. Cross Ahmed over to LW. He's played the left side of a front 3 for the Caps early this season.
2. Change the shape to a front 3 (unlikely) and mid 3
3. Move Davies to LM (unlikely) unless a late push needed
4. Laryea to cover (removes offense from the equation)
5. Other (Convert a forward to a LW)

Long term injuries - Adekugbe and Millar.

I'm thinking this may be the best team we have ever seen together. Thoughts?
Without question the best team we have ever had. Room for 3 more to make it the best 26 we ever had.

Millar, Adekugbe and Hoilett for me. See if anyone else emerges over the next year.

The World Cup team did not have this defense and did not have an optimal formation. Did not have this depth either.

Yeah, I agree. This is the best team we've ever had on paper.

Really looking forward to see what they can do if they put it all together.

Question answered tonight. Ahmed will probably start at LM.

He put a heck of a shift in, in Mexico tonight.

Keeping my eye out across the globe for good health. Bombito made it through yesterday's game. Lots of our guys playing today.
