Marner generally plays with a C who scores more than passes, Matthews or Tavares. so I don’t think he makes sense with McD. Maybe MacK. But him and Schiefle would probably be a good combo. Maybe Point?

Not sure who on this team fits with McD? Maybe Crosby to play the Hyman style role?

Bouchard for Sanheim or Doughty is easy enough. Ditto Thompson for any of the goalies.

Hyman, Wilson, Scheifele for any combination of Jarvis/Cirelli/Hagel/Konecny that works since I don't think they'd ever dream of leaving Marchand off.

So I wouldn’t fret. Canada will have makar in the final if they make it. Also back in 2010, Canada lost to the US 5-3 in round robin play and Canada finished 1-1-1, if Canada beats Finland in regulation, history repeats itself Canada finishes 1-1-1

I like to add that Canada typically ends up winning when they have had round robin adversity

Thompson is the easiest one, I would have had Harley originally on the team over Sanheim, and Celebrini&Scheifele replacing Konecny and Cirelli. Ultimately I think the loss last night comes down more to goaltending mishaps rather than a poorly constructed roster, although putting even more speed and skill on your side is never a bad thing.

Also, clear out the Hockey Canada old boys club behind the bench and on the seventh level. Have Brind’amour flanked by Bednar and Knoblauch with Sakic picking the team with Scott Salmond re-employed at a local McDonalds

Doughty was our best D-Man tonight.

Analytically that would've been Harley, who unfortunately won't be able to play anymore if Makar comes back. Will be interested to see how Doughty does without him cause he was pretty bad in game 1.

Duchene as well imo. We have A LOT of slow players on this team. Reminds me of top heavy oilers and their perimeter pete cycle game unable to generate any chances in the middle of the ice.

Hyman had a bad start, but he plays a tenacious game and has a knack for getting to and retrieving lose pucks, as well as working with McD.

As much as I think Bouchard isn't ready, the breakout was also abysmal tonight. We couldn't handle the pressure from the Americans for most of the game, and the D couldn't move the puck or make shorter passes under pressure, so we chipped the puck out for the majority of the game. Bouch would've helped with that, but I'm sure he would've costed defensively. Weegar, for sure, should've made this team imo.

And then the obvious, yeah, is Thompson. The best goalie in the league currently. Left off because of some stupid grudge.

To be honest, Canada played a good game. All the analytics point to Canada outperforming the states. The 2 bad goals that should have been stopped was the difference. Take care of Finland, get makar back in the final, adjust some lines, run with hill, and it’s a repeat of 2010. Btw Canada finished 1-1-1 and a ro7nd robin loss to USA in 2010, history will repeat

Binnington let in 1 bad goal, Hellebuyck let in 0 bad goals ... that's ball game.

Crosby and Marchand looked old tonight, bad turnover by Sid on the game winner.

McDavid and Marner have no chemistry together, stop pushing that as a line. No Hyman on this team was a mistake, too much favoritism towards Lightning and Blues players based on who was the coach and GM.

Sorry ladies and gentlemen, let me point out some suspicious information as to Management and coaches chose Binnington over Hill as the starter.

1. This goalie works for Armstrong, and Armstrong is likely the most senior man on this team Canada management group. Even if one or 2 coaches believe that he is not the best candidate for No1 goalie.
You better have very solid reason why this coach is not using Binnington. You DO NOT want to burn bridges with General Manager as they are the one fire and hire coaches.

2. Possibility reason #2, Canadian coaches and management did not do their homework. Watching Binnington during 2024 WC, he played alright and let in some leaky goals. He is not the best Canadian Goalie based on recent international tournament and NHL games. The coaching staff might have not watched how Hill, Montebault and Thompson played. I believe any of these 3 goalies are better than Binnington. Please see Binnington statistics below as you would not be able to watch the 2024 WC games.

Well, I would NOT dare sit out Binnington vs USA as i would not want to burn my bridge or feel awkward with Armstrong. You never know what the future is like as NHL coaching jobs do not last very long.

How is Scheifele not on this roster?

It is likely because Management wanted a gritty 4 fourth line and 13th forward to contain the team USA powerhouse (likely the best roster that they ever assembled). Team USA just looks incredible and should win this tournament. USA hockey should take over as the No. 1 nation in the next few years, especially with the incredible USA national programs.
