Maybe its just ptsd from the world juniors but why can't we score anymore. It just feels like Hockey Canada is constantly chasing the high of 2014 when the reality is that team was a unicorn, a perfect convergence of a lot of factors that will probably never happen again. We are, Canada we should be able to score.

Pretty even game could have gone either way. Did not like Canada's lines nor deployment.

However the top forwards all had bad games on an individual basis after McDavid's goal, which was majority of the game.

I think they need to stop shortening the bench as McDavid and Mackinnon don't even look that fast after their first few shifts. Even out the time to ensure all players have energy every shift.

While I dont disagree with you, as a Tampa fan I imagine the outcry on this very forum, if Cooper would give Tampa's line ice time equal to lines with Macks.

"He is giving to his mediocre players more ice time than to our superstars" - that would probably going to be the most polite one.

Agreed Konecny should have played. He's exactly who needs to be on the top 2 lines but he's getting the shaft because Cooper won't ever dare to scratch any of his Tampa crew

Crosby, Mack, McD have all created chances and put up points. I dot see it with Marner. Huge props to him on that goal but apart from that he’s been invisible.

And he’s an East West player and that’s just not going to work against a team like this.

Well the big guns should still get more, but in this game McDavid was at 23 and Bennett at 7. That seems like an unnecessary discrepancy.

Keep McDavid at 20 max and the bottom-6 guys around 10.

That's cool. If we're judging the game by who played better than we wouldn't be here. The points matter.

Rather a player who looks bad and leads the team in scoring versus the player with end to end rushes every shift that leads to nothing.

Cooper is purposely showcasing Marner on the top line to make sure he gets his 8 year $100M contract this summer.

Obviously Cooper is very high on Marner, after hearing about him speak about Marner after the 1st game, I'd say he's marners biggest fan. Yes he's elite offensively, elite defensively but he does not thrive in games that have very little time and space. He should be with Hagel and Cirelli to form an elite shutdown line.

Canada generated more chances today and lost the game. We need production, not end to end rushes with muffins on net.

Bedard isn't at this level yet imo. Schiefele and Hyman should be on the team.

Reinhart has been the least effective forward so far. Invisible and playing with no jam or hustle.

I thought Bennett played well enough to dress for the Finland game. Konecny should dress as well. I’d scratch Cirelli, who is what he is but accomplished less than Bennett with significantly more ice time.

Moreso than Hyman or Scheifele, I think Wilson would have been a huge asset to this team. Wouldn’t have thought so a few months ago, but I see it now.
