I had alot of fun watching this lastyear with guys like McKenna, Martone & Iginla leading Canada to Gold.
Wasn't much action on these boards for Canada though, I guess because the odds are always stacked against us with CHL playoffs ongoing. So, who's available? All 07's are eligible, right?

I think these guys did not make playoffs, and should be available:
Behm (Kamloops), Gard (Red Deer)
Hamilton (Regina)

These guys are down 0-2:
M Misa (Saginaw) would love to see him here! Schmidt (Van), Martin (Soo), Jacobson 08
Jax Smith (TriCity), Kettles (Swift)

Who am I missing?

Options from the WHL could be
F-Paupanekis(Kelowna), Behm(Kamloops), Gard(Red Deer), Maze(Regina), Coupland(Swift Current), Williams(Saskatoon/08), Lafreniere(Kamloops), Schmidt(Vancouver), Cootes(Seattle), Virk(Tri-City)
D-Hamilton(Regina), Kettles(Swift Current), Smith(Tri-City), Lin(Vancouver/08), Rudolph(Prince Albert/08)
G-Hood(Vancouver)

The locks I'd say should be Paupanekis, Behm, Gard, Schmidt, Cootes, Kettles and Smith. We'll see if they bring any 08s

I'd think Verhoff (08) would get a call. Maybe Belchetz? I wonder if Dupont will get a shot as an 09?

Belchetz plays for the Spitfires, and they're looking good in the first round right now. This would make Nesbitt unavailable as well.

Unfortunately, Belchetz is currently hurt anyway, and likely done for the season. It'd probably take a Mem Cup run from the Spitfires for him to play again this season.

Depending on the first round, Saint John has a couple of guys that could get looks.

Behm (Kamloops), Gard (Red Deer), Paupanekis (Kel), Lafreniere (Kam)
Hamilton (Regina)

These guys are down 0-3:
Jax Smith & Virk (TriCity),
Possible 08's: Jacobson (Bran), Williams (Sask)

NB, OS, and Sudbury are all down 0-3 also, but I'm not familiar with those guys & who would be invited.
Same with the Q. Anyone want to throw out some big names?

Blainville Boisbriand is down 3-1 against Sherbrooke, Xavier Villeneuve and Justin Carbonneau would be amongst the better players on this roster
Villeneuve won't be drafted until next year, right? I see his stats show he can put up points, is he responsible defensively? You'd have to think he'd be invited.

Sask has been eliminated, not sure if Cooper Williams will be invited.
Seems to be some good 08's that they'll have to at least consider. I think McKenna was the only underager lastyear. Crazy to think he could still play this year.

This tournament could be a blood bath for Canada. Outside of the goaltending, 2-3 dmen and 2-3 forwards, this is one of the worst potential U-18 rosters I can recall.

There are three problems with forming a competitive roster this year: 1.) As usual, many of the top Canadian players will likely be playing deep into the CHL playoffs (McKenna, Desnoyers, Misa, O Brien, Kindel); 2.) Even if their teams are eliminated, an abnormal amount of the top Canadian draft eligibles are too old for this tournament (Martone, Spence, McQueen, Carbonneau, Aitcheson, Lakovic, Bear (injured anyways)); and 3.) Remains to be seen if Schaefer will be healthy enough and available.

Pierce Mbuyi (08) on Owen Sound lead all OHL rookies in scoring this season. As an 08 he might be a longshot but if enough of the big time 07's are unavailable there's definitely a chance. I don't think any of the 07's would be on the radar.

You think so? If Misa is there, we'll have a shot.
US doesn't seem too strong. Sweden could have a strong team, not sure how their playoffs are going, but they have a bunch of top prospects from next year's draft plus Frondell, Boumedienne, Gastrin, Nilson from this year. I don't think Schaeffer will be available.

I'm not sure Misa alone will be enough despite some other nations having down years. In 2021-2022, we had Bedard and Fantilli but a very poor supporting cast, and they lost in the quarterfinal. I see a much weaker potential roster here than 2022-2023 and 2023-2024, but we'll have to see how the CHL playoffs shake out.

I might have to agree, just because there seems to be many 08's that could contend for spots.
Today Owen Sound will likely be eliminated, and the only player a can see might be Pierce Mbuyi, yet another 08
AT least they should have a great team next year!

Updated: Any locks from the Q to add?

These guys did not make playoffs or are already out, and should be available:
Behm (Kamloops), Gard (Red Deer), Paupanekis (Kel), Lafreniere (Kam),
Hamilton (Regina)
Possible 08's: C. Williams (Sask), Mbuyi (OS)

These guys are down 3-1:
Misa (Sag), Schmidt (Van), Roobroeck & Czata (Niag), Martin (Soo), Virk (TC)
J Smith (TC), P Kettles (SC), Ivankovic (Bramp)
Possible 08's: Jacobson (Bran), D Rudolph (PA), Lin (Van), C Carels (PG), Villenueve (BB)

Ivankovic would be a huge add.
Would he be considered graduated as he made the WJC roster, but didn't play?
