Damn i know both of them are coming back from injury but Suzuki being favorised at Center over JAD and Vilardi is huge for the habs considering i kinda see Suzuki being a RW at the NHL Level, will see how it turns out at the tournament and in the future for the habs.

This might be related to the other guys' respective injuries. Especially that wrist injury. Might be totally unrelated as well, dunno. But I wouldn't read too much into it. I also see Suzuki as a winger with the Habs.

brought it up last week. thats the way i saw it happening. The Formenton injury has changed some things around.
BUT.. its not over yet. Three games to play and lots can happen. The wrong player goes down to injury, the game pieces are going to change.

cutting Lafreniere would be a mistake, but am not surprised that's where Hockey Canada is heading. It's the way Hockey Canada operates. He needs to be there and be one of the returning players going to Europe next year.
I hope the coaching staff gives all 3 players all 3 pre-tournament games to prove who belongs and who doesn't before the final cut is made.

Didnt Hunter say that the player who is going to be cut has already been informed? Hypthetically speaking if that player is Lafreniere, itd be somethin if he lit up the pre tourny games and still sent him home.

Is it just me or is this squad a little weak compared with past years?
It’s definitely not you, but having said that, I feel that most of the big teams are also in a bit of a down year with their rosters. This is still very much in reach for Canada.

I would say this years team on paper is deeper upfront then the last 2 years. The blueline is talented but a total question mark as to how it will compete on the ice where as last year Canada's defense was the key to winning the Gold in my opinion. Overall I would say this should be as strong if not a stronger team then the last two years. My biggest concern has been and continues to be coaching. Ducharme is one of the best coaches we have had at this level in years and I worry that Hunter will be a big step down.

Did Alex Newhook even get invited?

has a 17 year old Junior-A player ever gotten an invite to WJC camp? I don't think so, but maybe somebody can correct me on that. It's rare that Hockey Canada gives 17 year old CHL players the opportunity. Maybe he'll get a shot next year out of Boston College. We'll see this spring if Hockey Canada includes him on the U18 team. I'm not convinced they even do that.

Kariya I believe.

So Hayton will center Frost even though Frost centers Hayton in the OHL?
Hayton is a better 200 foot player, and will likely stick at Centre. Frost is skilled and fast, but he frequently cheats to jump to offensive opportunities. The Soo can afford this because they are both dominant players in the OHL. TC can't because it's the highest level of competition. Rest assured, Frost will put up some nice points in the tourney. I'm glad it looks like they are playing together.

Bob just on the radio talking about the goalie situation and he believes that the #1 spot is fully up for grabs in the pre tournament games and they havent penciled either one into the starters role yet.

i am glad they have the pencil out and not the ball point.
There are still some players that haven't done squat yet and they have to prove their worth over the next 3 games.
I figured Lafreniere would have to contribute in the U sport games but just maybe he shines a little closer to his age group and HC ( which i think has gone soft) (maybe anti bullying is better worded), should not be announcing anything about who is going to get cut until some of these players get on their horse and start producing. Where is Eddie Shore when you need him.

My confidence in this team has gone down a bit. Brook should be on the team but him playing top pairing on his wrong side over Smith just reeks of a Hicketts type situation.

Brook is easily a top 4 D for Canada

Debatable based on play this year for Dobson..especially if Brooks is playing his wrong side. They are playing Smith as if he is a defensive liability, which i would say is based on his size. We will soon find out if he is right.

Brook has played a lot of LH with the Moose Jaw. Hell, he even played on the wings at some point.

Brook and Dobson are the top 2 D on the team
I'm assuming you haven't watched much of the 4 players this year?

Dobson & Brook haven't been better than Bouchard this year, and I'd argue Smith has been better than Dobson & Brook as well imo.

It's not a big deal, this stuff tends to sort itself out during the Tourny.

In all honesty I'm not a big Dobson fan, but hopefully he proves me wrong.
